    Evening all,

Still no pre-approved offers from Barclays, if anything my credit file is in a better place since account opening so monthly feeds from the Credit Agencies will be positive.

If I go into a branch will the staff be able to see anything different, or on phone banking?

    Cheers,

    MF

If you want something, just ask them. I've banked with Barclays for over 40 years and never had pre-approved offers. That said, I've never had a problem if I've wanted a loan or overdraft. I don't think they're greatly into offering things unsolicited. Suits me fine.

Sometimes when you go into branch as an existing customer, they will sell you a product that you might want. Just go for it.
  • I'd say it takes usually 6-12 months from opening to generally acquire limits, or become a No Limits customer if you've been running your account badly!

For the first 12 months or so you are a Full App customer, you can still apply for overdrafts, loans, etc but you have to do an application in branch and it is credit-scored. After this time, if you become a Limits customer, then you can apply online or via Telephone Banking.

You can apply for a Barclaycard at any time even if you have no limits for a loan or overdraft.

Hi, what do you mean a limits customer? My OH has a Barclay's current account, only for 9 month's though.

Sorry, I should have explained in more detail, a Limits customer basically has overdrafts and/or loans pre-approved and a credit check is not normally done when applying. You can still be declined if the loan or overdraft is for a purpose which is excluded and you're not automatically going to get it if, for example, your circumstances have changed in the last month or two, or are about to change. This could be birth of a new child, moving house, change of job, reduction in hours. Obviously the pre-approved limits won't take any of these into account if they are recent or about to happen so the application would be referred to someone higher up the chain.
  • Evening,

Just in case anyone's searching for similar info there are still no pre-approved offers on my Barclays internet banking after 13 months of use...

Next time I'm near a branch I'll pop in, haven't been in one since last summer.

Don't bother, if there are none available in your online banking then the branch won't be able to offer you anything.

I think going through a full application for your 'first' credit product for the bank and running the credit product well will enable you to become a 'limits' customer.

As an unknown (credit products wise) to the bank it seems less likely they will generate pre-approvals for you.

Do you have an overdraft with them?

Some people on here apply for things, which are not are not part of the pre-approved offers, are successful. Try that out.
