    Well what can I say as a newbie to this site all the people who answered with a genuine comment I thank, the others grow up, I showed your replies to my 19 year old daughter and she couldn't believe people could be so childish.

    OP - I would ask the hotel to justify the charge and to prove that it was as a result of your daughter and her mates.

    As others have said, go for a chargeback.

    So if they remember the stain being there, did anyone of them report it to reception at the time?

    Im not sure they should have in any case? If I stayed in a hotel and there was a stain on the carpet I dont think I would probably tell them unless they asked me to carry out an inspection and let them know outcome.
