JSA: Not meant to sign-on today

Today I went to the JC to sign-on. I am on my third weekly sign-on this week.
I went to the JC, and they told me signing-on doesn't happen this week.
It will be postponed to next week (i.e. 6 Jan). When I had my weekly sign-on last week, I haven't been told about this arrangement.
Anyone not signing-on this week?

Signing is usually 'excused' over the week or two around christmas with money going out ahead of time in most cases.
They usually do tell you that you dont have to sign though.0 -
Actually, I just remembered I got a letter about the sign-on arrangements for the holiday period. It does say next sign-on is 6 Jan (for those who usually sign on a Wednesday). Got this letter during my 13 week review.
:
I can't believe I forgot about it after reading it.
That means my sign-on pattern has change now. My weekly sign-on ends on 20 Jan, now it will be the week after that then (i.e. 27 Jan)? Hope you can help.0 -
yes my son didnt have to sign on this week as usual they are closed apparantly for sisgning on and he got his dole money 3 days early as well0

What a joke! Why does Jobcentre Plus go on a 2 week holiday around Christmas?
Of course their staff is staff like everyone else, however, they administrate benefits and should only be entitled a day off on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and any Bank Holiday Monday that may follow and New Years Day.
What if there was an error/problem with your claim during such 2 weeks? You would have to wait! It is meant to be a public service. You would be annoyed if buses and trains stopped running in the 2 week festive period.
If anyone genuinely was unaware about being excused from signing on and attended you should claim for travel. Write a complaint to District Manager.0 -

The offices are not closed for the 2 weeks, they just do not deal with the signing on part of their work.0 -

Um, sorry if this appears rude but should people not be thankful that the need to sign on is suspended over this 2 week period??? This smacks of 'you just can't win'. The rules have been put in place to ACCOMMODATE people who are signing on! :mad:0 -
As Healy says.. the JC was NOT shut for 2 weeks... they were shut for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Bank Holiday Monday & New Year's Day - the only other day they were shut was Christmas Eve. Civil Servants get 1 'privelege' day off each year & that was it this year.
I suggest you get your facts right before you come on here spouting garbage & trying to cause trouble where none exists!Oops!! Should I have posted this??? Some users don't think I shouldn't be offering advice due to my occupation!!!
