In your world everything is black and white.
if it was so crystal clear in all casaes, then we wouldn't have any problems, let alone this forum.
I had an IMA I knew nothing about for about 10 years, they tried to say i owed 46k, if I hadn't seeked help thats what I would have paid. After a year and half its actually 4k. CSA will rob you if they have the chance.0 -

By naivety or ignorance of the system I'm pursuing you mean new to the system. Most people who are new to the system are not experts and look for guidance from the CSA.I am well aware that the CSA make errors, however, it is not rocket science to ascertain the correct figure a NRP should be paying, either by using the CSA calculator or going by the 15,20,25% rules.
As you say, it is not rocket science, so why so many complaints.
Okay, the CSA make mistakes, but we have a responsibility as NRP and PWC to make sure they have all of our facts. We also have an opportunity to appeal any decision we don't agree with.
Yes agreed, I would also say not giving the right information and misleading information has caused a lot of mistakes.Isn't it similar to your gas and electricity bills, if you don't allow them in to read your meters, you may get grossly inflated bills
The CSA have access to all tax records and wage details to assess income. To not allow them to read the meter as you would put it, would be classed as non compliant. What they do with the information in calculation, time delays and mistakes is out of the NRP or PWC control.

you're wasting your time mate.
certain posters on here refuse to believe the incompetency and errors of this "organisation".
and as has been said many times. if they were competent then the many forums set up to help people would not exist.
all the wimmin sat here gas bagging and talkin tosh should take a look at some of the horror stories on other csa help forums and enlighten themselves with a few facts for a change instead of the uninformed, blinkered opinions and drivel they post.NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT. THEY'LL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.

Absolute rubbish!
Post should say: When all the facts are known fully, there should be no such thing as a wrong assessment. Keep the CSA up to date, make them aware of any changes in circumstance to your situation but they still make mistakes.
The CSA cannot get anything right. Time and time again we have given them ALL the facts and each time they come back with a different answer. Not everything is black and white.
Just a quick example - my OH has a six year old dd from a previous fling, he has always done 'the right thing'. He was the one who contacted the CSA in the first place. He pays £250 a month. The ex moved 400 miles away and didnt allow contact (no reason BTW other than she is a malicious cow). He went to court for monthly contact which was granted. On CSAs recommendations OH then filled in forms for special entitlements and was granted £50 off a month to take into account travelling, accomodation etc (we spend approx £200 each month on seeing her although obviously it is OHs choice). OH then gets a letter to say they had miscalculated and took it down to £15 off. A year on and they have just phoned OH to tell him that infact he has overpaid but is unlikely to get the money back and infact put payments up for a month!!!) !!!!!!!!!
Anyway, to the OP - good luck in court. Be honest and make sure you know what you are going in to face. To those who like to judge according to their own circumstances - please try and broaden your horizons.

How could you possibly know that everything you read is a genuine fully factual situation - simple fact is, you don't.
Yes I agree the csa get things wrong sometimes, just not in the great numbers that some want to think.0 -
Just one point to add, it is was stated on the form that it is a criminal offence to give false information to the Sec of S. So if people dont give the informaion that is correct and asked for then it is a problem for them.
I am informed that this is not used as the defence that has been used is that the CSA dont follow this themselvs! As the CSA make too many unforced errors!
As for Deadbeatdads, the last time they spoke to me, was when they had a meeting with the Sec of S and the fee of £5 was optional, as for now I dont know. They have told me that they have beaten LO applications on points of Law, again some of the points seem a little vage. It was a suggestion as to where to find help that is all.
Good luck in your hearing.0 -

er. if it was the small numbers of errors you talk of, then this government wouldn't have deemed the CSA "unfit for purpose" now would they??
it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out how bad the incompetence is now, does it??
but, in some posters, their blinkers obscure the bigger picture.
