  • OK... ive got a priority form for the 1st time ever - at last!

I'd like to know... when you book online (with your code), do you select only one park/date, and know there and then if you've got the park/date you want, OR do you still have to select several and wait to find what you've been allocated?

    Thanks.

You still have to put a few dates and parks in but they will give you the best option out of them all and then you will have the chance to accept it or not so dont worry.

Right - someone explain to me in laymans terms how the Sun / Daily Mail hols work lol. Ive seen it posted about for years but have never looked into it etc but am intrigued!

Ok, can see from 14th March I collect 7 tokens, fill in a form and send off - what happens then? Are you guaranteed a holiday if you send off and do you have any choice about which areas?

Got my spring priority booking form in the post yesterday, but haven't got the summer one yet which is the one I want this year. Can't book online until the 9th anyway though so hopefully get it before then!

So what do you have to for the sun holidays to book them online? Would love to know as I think it is pointless sending off the tokens and hoping for the best!

It's how most of us started though, and that way you get a priority for next year :T

i think for my first year i might collect the vouchers, seams great price to not to.. shame you cant get code that not being used

It's usually cheaper than booking a holiday directly with the parks themselves (but do check, because some people have previously found it cheaper to go direct if they are going off-peak), and often cheaper even than booking 3 nights in a travelodge in an area you want to visit.

To begin with we went off tokens and hoped for the best. I think the weekend we were allocated was one where the kids were in school but they had one teacher training day on the friday, so we travelled up friday morning and went swimming, to the beach etc. before checking in to the caravan (4pm-ish). If you put school holiday dates first choice but then add dates where you know your child has a teacher training day on one side of the weekend you will at least be able to have that extra time onsite rather than getting a weekend where the children have to be in school both friday and monday.

The following year we got sent a priority code, so then you can go online and choose 3 dates and 3 parks and they will suggest a holiday to you, which you either accept or not and you can fiddle around with different optinos until they offer you something you want - although what you were hoping for may not be available.

If family and friends want the same holiday as you you can staple the application forms together and send them in together with a covering note. We've successfully done that a few times, and then everyone gets the same date.

If you have children in school look on their LEA website for term dates. Last January when I booked I was trying for either the end of july or start of september, whenever my children were off school. For some reason our term dates were different to previous years and they were in school later in july and didn't start back until september 9th so we were able to book butlins for the september.

I recall several people expecting to go back around the same time, booking butlins for that september weekend and then realising that their children were meant to start school earlier than usual. It's always worth checking that the LEA haven't changed the term dates by a whole week from what you expect.
