  • If you get "bad checksum" error using Spybot, download updates from another server. It's an option on the Update page. I use "Xteq (Germany)".

    For Smitrem, let's run this.

Download this free tool called: smitRem

    http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click%20counter/click.php?id=1

and save the file to your desktop.

Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.

Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log

I agree, download AVG from here

    http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

    for firewall, Kerio here

    http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio-Download.cfm

ignore the Free evaluation bit...it just shuts down some features that you don't need when that is up ;)

make sure you remove Nortons First by using Add/Remove programs, there is also a bit called "LiveUpdate" that needs removing as well
