Hi was wondering whether anyone could help me, I bought a new computer in September and it runs very slow. Its as slow as my old pentium 4 ?? Are there any programs that could check whether I can delete things to clean it up?
Nice to save.

if you have less than 257MB of memory, then upgrading it to 512 would make things much better.

You probably have alot of programmes running in the background, try this:
Got to start menu, and run, type msconfig, on the startup menu remove any programs that you dont need at start up.
This will speed up your machine considerably0 -
broadband connection but I still unplug it at the phone line as I haven't got the right length cable yet. What do you mean about phone bills ? running safety live one now 12 virus found. I'm so stupidNice to save.0

Do you have any AV software installed? Try avast or avg, both free..
A quick google of win32/vb.bz suggested a dialer or backdoor.
If it is a dialer, it might try and dial a different ISP (premium rate no.) using your modem, so I'd keep it unplugged.. you don't need it if you have broadband (unless you need to use it as a fax).
Make a note of what livescan finds, and post back.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

nah you are not stupid
run through the guide here in "safe mode" as it tells you. it's just posts 1 to 4 at the start and you may need to print the instructions for reference. This ahould clean everything off.

then come back and we will guide you through loading an anti virus + firewall etc
also use hijack this to produce a log for me afterwards so I can make sure everything has goneEx forum ambassador
