I thought I could hear a horrible whining noise coming from my laptop earlier. Then I realised it was the missus standing behind me lol.

try leaving it to dry, propped on its end or by using a hairdryer but on low - our head of IT was doing this and got carried away and melted the keys lol
dont give up hope, it might start working fine after a couple of days'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -

I will try it in a day or so - I'm not so sure about a hairdryer though, just see if it drys out I think:rolleyes:
I'm ot brave enough to try repairing it myself either- would probably cause more damage - but as its 'only' the keyboard not working fingers crossed it won't be too expensive.0 -
£20 or £30 on average you can normally pick up a good one on ebay (depending on model) you just need to be a little careful that they are original parts. Keyboards are really simple to replace on most laptops.faithcecilia wrote: »I wouldn't have a clue how to do this myself, any 'ball park' idea what it would cost? The laptop only cost £280 in the first place!
Thanks again0 -
im a laptop engineer and 9 times out fo 10 with spills (Other then coffee or tea) it can be reapired.
If possible remove your keyboard (Not as hard as it sounds) and was it under warm water, then put in the airing room or a big bowl of rice.
make sure that its 100% dry when you put it back in0 -

Thanks for the advice. Thankfully I have just tried using it to see if it had possibly dried out and its working! I am soooo relieved - I really didn't want to have to spend out. Now I just need to figure out how to reattatch the 's' key:rolleyes:0 -
I spilt a whole cup of tea (with sugar!) over my laptop 2 weeks ago, it was open at the time and all went in under the keys and around the power button. I turned it staright off and left it too dry near a heater and gave it an extra blast with a hairdryer (i took all the bits apart and dried it out throughley inside. Its been fine (apart from the fact that it doesnt remember the time now) and everything works. Mind you i think mine is invincible as i also dropped it onto concrete and it was fine then too!
SO hopefully once yours has dried out it will be ok too.0 -
What make and model properly just needs a new keyboard easy enuf to replace on most laptops0
