I decade is a long time in economics. I am sure their is enough exploited technology to ensure that their is going to be quite a lot of economic growth, even if the next few years are going to be tough.

Two key criteria for me for any party to fulfil for the next parliament :-
    a) can they convince the markets that they have a credible plan to control our burdgening debt situation
    b) can they coerce the unions somehow to take the tough spending cut decisions we all know will be required.

On current evidence, it doesn't look good for Brown on either of these.
  • Brown, like the lib-dems, can promise what he wants, as in 6 months time he'll never see power again.

Interesting factoid on a politics show hosted by that Neill bloke...

There are twice as many potential voters over 60 as there are under 30, and they are twice as likely to vote. This gives the blue rinse brigade a 4 to 1 voting power advantage.

Will this mean the parties making pensioner friendly policy their priority?

Brown has got no chance. The CE of the Trinity Mirror group was on Sky News the other day talking about next year. She was talking as if Cameron had won the election and Geoff Randell had to point out that the contest was not all over yet.

Brown can't accept our problems of today were mostly his doing when he was chancellor. Therefore hes going to try and cover up the problems for as long as he can. Labour need to get rid of him and tell us the truth and then make some credible plans. The PBR was another nail in Browns Coffin. The live debates will be the final nail, he is going to be made to look a fool by the other two.
