washing machine wont/cant spin

Options
Could there be a simple answer to why my new washing machine isnt spinning?
I dont think its rinseing either, in fact i think its taking in the water but for some reason not expelling it

The water waste pipe is attatched to the drain waste under the sink, Water drains from the kitchen sink ok so dont think its that thats bocked.

any ideas

Is this your new washing machine that was supposed to arrive this morning to replace the other one which did the same thing?

Not being funny but did you actually check what I suggested (after me and another had had a little laff) in all seriousness (post #9 in your first thread) about the possibility of the hose having a blanking plug in the end?

As you've said that its connected to the sink trap there is usually a blanking plug in the bottom of the spigott that the hose will attach to. That also needs to be removed - has it been?

    Cheers

  • Bought a new cooker last week and tried to have it fitted (by a electrician) all going well, wired into a connection on the wall tried the oven ok, also put on the grill and "pop" fuse goes. Tried this 3 times and each time the fuse went. Phoned the retailer who supplied the cooker and they wanted to send out an engineer but i insisted i wanted a new cooker delivered in case it was faulty, which they are going to do, but now im a bit worried that it may not have been a problem with the cooker could it be a problem with the actual cooker switch on the wall?

its probaly a 5p or button blocking the waste hose thats what happened to ours, take the hose off the sink connection put the machine on drain whilst kind of tugging the waste pipe into a bucket hope you can get what i mean as hard to explain let me know how u get on

or it could be the fact that you need the waste pipe to be higher than the actual bit the waste pipe comes out of the washing machine?? something like that

Faulty new washing machine - whats my rights
Can anyone advise of rights on this situation?

Brought a new washing machine 2 weeks ago, had it fitted just before the xmass holidays. The washing programmes seem to be a bit of a mix-up. It washes but dose'nt rinse or spin at the end of a programme, it dose'nt spin on just the spin programme, and it dose'nt drain on the drain programme. After doing the 1st wash to clean the machine with no laundry in it it had to be drained by taking the filter of at the front and get the water out that way, then tried with laundry in it and it didnt spin or drain, once again had to drain it manually.

Can i insist on a new washing machine? do i lose any rights if an engineer comes out to fix it?

been so long since I bought a new washing machine.

do they still have transit bolts that need to be removed before you use the machine?
  • Thanks for your quick reply.

Yes your right it is the replacement for the other one, I now know that it wont be a fault on the washing machine its got to be a problem with the hose or the drainage pipe.

I should have checked for more replys to my last question before putting up another thread ( thanks for being patient with me)

Would this blanking plug be at the end of the hose thats attatched to the wastepipe or would it be the other end closer to the machine?

The end thats attatched to the wastedrain just pushes on to the waste so i dont think theres anything to block it that end or it wouldnt push on (or would it?)

    Thanks again
