Free vodafone access gateway if I upgrade with vodafone?

As above, the title says it all really. I've recently moved, and whereas I can get a signal on o2, my vodafone sim on contract struggles to get anything at all and is basically unuseable. my upgrade is due as of new years eve, and at the moment i'm on 35pounds per month, but all of my bills have been 50ppm plus, averaging about £60-70ppm.
i've heard that the vodafone access gateway will provide a 3g signal through your broadband router, which is great, but tbh i'm not paying to get a signal in a highly urbanised area that 02 seem to be able to do without a problem. Given that i spend a significant amount on my contract, would i be able to haggle the free supply of one of these boxes in exchange for renewing with them? has anyone any experience with this? or should i start looking at getting my pac?
