Hi, moving to a new house in July and deciding i want to change broadband providers now that my contract with my present is coming to an end.
Currently on BT unlimited 2mb B/B @ £25 per month.
Been looking at Tiscali unlimited and it looks a lot cheaper!
Cant get Talk Talk in my area.
Whats the best one to go for right now, and when i move how do i go about getting Tiscali?
Do i take out a BT line on the house right away then phone Tiscali as soon as my BT line is installed?

There have been posts about Tiscali not been doing well, as in users are not happy on this forum. Try doing a search to see what you will find. I am not suggesting that one you sign up with them (or any other ISP) that you will get problems, just some people have posted their experiences on here. You may be lucky and not have any or maybe unlucky and get lots of problems. (This applies to any ISP).
There are lots of deals for Broadband out there right now. I will let others do the recommendations.
Do you want unlimited downloads? If not approximately how much do you use each month and what is your primary use? Or is speed what your after?
You say you are coming towards the end of your current contract. How long is left? This may determine if you want to get cable or a BT line. Can you get cable in your area? If so, have you thought about getting cable? You won’t need a BT line to be installed/activated, but if you do want BT in the future it will cost you to connect you, currently £125, I think.
If your happy with current ISP and want a better deal, first get a few quotes of other ISPs charges and features then ring up BT Broadband and say you are thinking of leaving and see what they offer you. Don’t always take up the first offer they reply with, haggle until your happy. If not you can always ring up again to do the same process, hopefully with another member who will give you what you want.
For ADSL connections, you will need a BT line. For cable, you will need NTL. The ISP(s) will want your phone number to check if they can hook you up to their exchange before you sign up. So there is no point in getting a BT line if your getting NTL bundle packages for example.0 -

Hi
Tiscali are not Unlimited, they have a fair use policy, if you are willing to spend a bit more, there are a lot better isps out there.
If you go here, you can compare isps.
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp
If you find one that you like the look of, go to their website and look at their T&C, and also they "Fair use policy".
Is it a 1mth or 12mth contract, lots of isps offering 1mth contract, so if you don't like them, you easily migrate to another one.
Look at the download limits, p2p throttling/band shaping etc.
What are you going to use the net for, if your downloading big files, etc then you will need a bigger download limit.
All this has to be taken into account when you sign up with an isp.
So have a good look around, and if you find one that you like, then go here and see what their customers are saying about them.

Yes, if your new house hasn't got a BT line, then they will have to put one in. Then you can choose your broadband provider.
Hope this helps0 -
Last July I signed with plus.net and it's been totally trouble free. I pay £14.99 per month - unlimited usage, (but with a fair use policy which I think is very fair). They are upgrading everyone to up to 8 meg if your line will support it at no extra charge.
Check out their website www.plus.net0
