Orange new iPhone tariffs in January?

I just spoke to an Orange representative in Retentions who informed to wait in January since there may be some tariff changes to the iPhone.

She said that they were surprised when Tesco Mobile started offering the product.

I'll be checking over the next few weeks....but perhaps other customers could confirm if they have heard similar news.

I just wondered if anyone else has managed to confirm with retentions if Orange are going to change their iPhone tariffs.

    Just this month:

Google Nexus One release, maybe U.S only
    Vodafone iPhone release
Apple conference at the end of the month
    CES 2010 in Las Vegas

I'll wait until the end of the month for all the dust to settle but I really do think the operators will change the tariffs sooner rather than later.

There are no new tariffs as of yet. I work in Upgrades and we wouldn't find out this far in advance.

I always tell customers to hold out if they are not happy with the tariffs as with Vodafone and Tesco now launching I would expect something more competitive to come in, but it's a company decision and unfortunately, nobody knows on frontline.

PS- How could Orange by 'surprised' by Tesco launching the iPhone, maybe she was because she hadn't known about it. I knew as soon as the press release came out and found out about the tariffs as soon as they were launched too! To be fair I've never once had a customer who has said they wanted me to match the Tesco offer, so we don't seem to be losing too much sleep over it.

    .

Time and time again it's been reported Apple set the prices, look at the Orange, o2, Tesco and Vodafone costs, they are almost identical. There is *unlikely* to be any reductino any time soon.

There is no reason for a reduction, people are buying them as they are, so why reduce the price. The iPhone is selling like hot cakes and the only reason orange and VF have it is to stop people leaving to get the iPhone.
