Ebay seller "away" so cant post, but accepted offer and leaving feedback for others?

I bought a new car seat for my son on 23/12/09, the listing said the seller despatches via courier in 1 business day and shipping would take 1 business day too. I left it til yesterday and checked again, thinking I should probably have got it by now, to see that they've put a note on the listing to say that they are away til the 4th so there will be a posting delay. Fair enough, but that wasnt on there when I bought the item, plus, they were definitely there when I bought the item, because I actually made an offer which they accepted straight away!
I checked again today, and its now been changed again to say that the seller is away until the 5th!
Also, I checked their feedback today, and can see that they have been leaving feedback for people today as little as half an hour ago, yet they ignored my message yesterday asking politely when I could expect to receive the car seat.
I guess all I can do is wait to receive it. In all fairness it is a bargain and I do want it, but surely it should have been courtesy to tell me that there would be a delay? Would I be too harsh in giving negative feedback? I've never given it before, but I am really hacked off about this!

Away from home perhaps, so not able to post item but certainly not far from a PC with internet access to check/accept offers and leave feedback.....0

I second that. You can get on ebay from anywhere, but only post stuff that you've got in your house when at home.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

I think you can have an automatic offer acceptance if it's over a certain amount and also an automatic feedback system when someone leaves feedback for you, so that could explain those things, but it's a bit pants if they didn't mention in their listing that they'd be away though!.•

Thats fair enough, but if they've access to ebay to accept offers and leave feedback, they could reply to a message? And their listings didnt state that they are away til the 4th when I made the offer, and they have changed the date til the 5th today.Mummy to

Annoying it may be, but you've not said why you need the seat so urgently, and that it cannot wait until 6th January to receive it.
When you do receive it, just mark them down on postage, or give them a neutral.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Given that today is only the second business day since the 23rd of December (and that's being generous allowing the 24th as a business day), do you not think you are being a bit impatient here?
Or did the whole Chrsitmas thing happening on a Friday, Boxing day saturday, usual Sunday, bank holiday Monday, completely pass you by?<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
If they say they post next business day, they should have posted the next day, or today. But instead, AFTER I made the offer, which they accepted, they amended something so the listing now states that they are away til the 5th. This wasnt on the listing when I made the offer. I am annoyed that I bought and paid for an item listed with next day delivery, that is going to take 2 weeks to get here.
Perhaps they are a user of this board :rotfl: as about 10 minutes after posting this thread they replied to my ebay message to say in actual fact the courier they use takes a xmas break and isnt back til the 5th! They said their couriers last working day before xmas was 21/12/09, they really should have put this on the listing.Mummy to

Nice job if you can find it, Courier finishes on 21/12/09 until 05/01/10 if I was the seller I'd be looking for a different courier service or choose not to list during that period, it's almost like Santa's off on Christmas Eve and the Elves booked it off too.emlou2009

Reading your posts I don't think you expected the impossible, (delivery in 2 Xmas working days) but wanted and should have been given information about expected post date of item paid for. I'd be very annoyed if my emails were ignored and the seller was making contact with others.
I would leave appropiate feedback.0 -

It is NOT two weeks. You bid/offered on 23 Dec. Some couriers did not work on Xmas eve, mine couldn't get here due to the snow anyway. The first FULL business day after 23rd (not counting Xmas eve) was Tuesday 29th. There are then only 2 more business days Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31st this year. Monday 4th is first business day next year. So in all fairness, they have taken 4 or 5 business days. Not all couriers are collecting during these times. I have 2 that are but 3 are not.
If you chose to order something the day before Christmas Eve then you need to look at Public Holidays (they are published well in advance ). I think to be honest, that ANY seller no matter what they give as despatch times, is excused a day or so over the Bank Holiday period. Your seller says despach within 1 business day, even a buyer full of 'Bah Humbug' can only expect it to be collected on Tuesday 29th.
Oh and by the way, there are 6 pulic holidays over the Xmas period next year, better get yourself organised now.0
