Ebay seller "away" so cant post, but accepted offer and leaving feedback for others?

Why is the tone of your post so rude and sarcastic? Its not really needed, I havent been rude to you at all?
Leaving all that aside, is it then unfair of me to think that it is quite poor of them not to send a courtesy message when they accepted the offer saying that they are away and that it would be sent on the 5th, rather than not saying anything and leaving me to guess when it might arrive?
Until they responded to my message yesterday, the only reason I knew they were away til the 5th was because its a multiple item listing and they changed it on there for the remaining items! In which case, if you dont class 24th December as a business day (which I do, and everywhere I have ever worked has classed it as a business day, but nevermind) then I would be definitely expecting the item to be delivered today, and would have no idea that it wasnt coming.Mummy to

My post is neither sarcastic or rude but that's not the issue.
Firstly, as has been explained, all the sellers preferences can be automated, so whilst the offer was accepted and feedbacks left, they could actually be sunning themselves on a tropical island far away from everything. They could also have rung home and asked an Ebay buddy to update the listings as they forgot to put their return date on. In essence, what I am saying, is that you do not know the situation and cannot judge where they are based on any activity that 'appears' to be happening on Ebay.
Whilst 24th December is a workday for some people it is not for all, as some businesses close at lunchtime. Most couriers did not work a full day so not all collections/delivery areas were serviced.
I stand by what I say. It will not be 2 weeks. You were unrealistic in expecting delivery (before Christmas, if I understand your post correctly) when you did. I do however agree that today would be the FIRST day you could releasitically expect delivery. But even then, some couriers abandoned collections/deliveries due to the weather. I don't know what time you ordered on 23rd, but even with 1 day despatch the 24th for the seller to process is pushing it. The first FULL business day after your order was Tuesday. Let's assume they don't have a courier that can be booked same-day but they book it on the Tuesday for the Wednesday collection. So even then, tomorrow will be the first opportunity.
But, all this explanation is unnecessary as the seller has now indicated to you that the first date they can post is 5th. You must decide what feedback and stars you are to leave, when you receive your goods.
I have based my opinion on the information you have given and I believe you were unreasonable to expect delivery so soon.0 -
I think the problem here, if I'm interpreting it correctly, is lask of communication from the seller. I am a business seller on E-bay and have put a message on all my listings stating that I can only post on certain days over the Christmas period (namely today and yesterday). My post office is open for shorter hours on New Years Eve and because of my job I just can't post tomorrow. Normally my dispatch times are 2 business days as stated on my listing, but if someone buys my item tonight I can't post it until Monday 4th. Technically that is the next business day after tomorrow but I'm hoping that I have made it clear to buyers when they can expect postage.
To answer the OP, I think your seller should definitely be marked down for communication and should have been more open and honest with you. Personally if you are happy with the seat when you get it I wouldn't leave negative feedback. It's possible they may have gone to visit relatives and ended up starying longer than planned etc, but there again they obviously have interent access so could have let you know!0 -

Ouch! think you may have sellers responding here.
Just checking RM's standard parcel delivery info at www.royalmail.com, the car seat could have been sent this way on the 24th Dec, for a very reasonable price. They offer a 3 working day service including Saturdays although not guaranteed and not allowing for the weather, my calculation is you could if seller was using this service, hope for a possible delivery date of 2nd - 4th of January 2010.
That's assuming you don't have a huge baby and need a car seat that exceeds 1.5m long and the combined length and girth doesn’t exceed 3m.
bluebell13 was by far the most wise and impartial poster here.
I would not be happy at all with a seller that didn't communicate with me, wouldn't mind if they told me they were sunning themselves on a island over Xmas as long as I knew before I bid.
I would use the Ebay system of Dsr'(I dislike them or should I say the idiots that use them) feedback would depend on the condition of the item and if I was the seller I'd apologise for the lack of communication.
Just to clarify my position in commenting here, I buy and sell on Ebay. I listed some items that ended the last week of December, I upgraded my buyers to Special Delivery at my cost, they paid on eve of xxxx and I sent the next morning all were received before Xmas. Only one of 4 was silly enough to leave a 4* Dsr for P&P.
I'm also a courier who worked very hard on the 24th and everyone who was at home received their parcels, started back on the 28th and again anyone at home received their parcels.
Hope you get your item emlou and it was worth the wait.0 -

Why would the seller use a service that will most likely cost more and doesn't provide tracking? I'm assuming the carseat will be fairly expensive, would you send that to an unknown buyer without protecting yourself?I'm also a courier who worked very hard on the 24th and everyone who was at home received their parcels, started back on the 28th and again anyone at home received their parcels..
That doesn't mean that all couriers work to the same schedule as you do.:j30/7/10:j

I doubt they do Hun, it takes a lot of commitment, I apply the same commitment as an Ebay Seller.
Happiness is getting to the top of the stairs and remembering what you went up there for. And remembering that you sold something on Ebay and you must post or contact the Buyer.0 -

But it doesn't offer tracking. No way should anybody send an expensive item without tracking.I doubt they do Hun, it takes a lot of commitment
So what you do is irrelevant. You aren't the courier, so it has nothing to do with the OPs situation.

The OP states this is a bargain not an expensive item, do you know something different?

True I'm not the courier, so what I do is irrelevant, so I can't help the OP in this situation.
All I can do is agree with the OP and her complaint and support her.
Happiness is finding a good Ebay seller or one who says oh I messed up.
