not sure where to post my question
is there any foods that help to feel full
i'm forever nibbling at chocolate, crisps, cakes because i'm always feeling hungry and they are are not helping with my weight
i have tried things like bran flakes mixed with dried fruite but never feel full
ta if anyone can help and soz if i've posted in the wrong place can someone tell me where i need to post

Maybe google for low GI or low GL foods to eat that will help keep your blood sugar levels stable. Loads of food lists and recipes out there for you to try.0

I find that hot food makes me feel fuller, so I tend to have things like porridge for breakfast, HM veg or lentil soup for lunch which is still quite chunky and always have a side of veg or a salad with every evening meal.
I also drink water or squash if I start to feel peckish just to check im nit thirsty instead0 -
from my diet club membership days, i remember a coupple of things,
1. soup. if you eat a cooked dinner and have a glass of water by the side, it will keep you less full than if you had the food prepared with water and ate as a soup.
2. eat as much unprocessed stuff as possible, so it is as unrefined as possible, so eat fresh fruit and veg rather than dried sultanas, not sure what the unrefined source of branflakes is, but guess you'd eat them wet rather than dry(???). Rather than eat crisps eat a baked or boiled potatoe etc.

I do eat less when I have had a good bowl of porage for breakfast it lasts for ages in making me feel full#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

if you add chunks of boiled spud to the soup, it makes it more filling as well.
I find porridge really filling too, followed by a banana it fills me up for ages.grocery challenge jan 17 £ / 350.000 -
i found that cold water was good at staving off hunger.
Also although the effect is minor, drinking cold water actually burns calories as you need to heat up your core temperature by the small amount drunk. Someone showed me a calculation once I think its like 40 calories per litre (obviously don't overdo it), but on the recommended 2 litres a day that's 2400 calories a month or 2lbs every 3 months

Protein makes you feel full for longer. Eggs, meat, fish, beans and so on.
I find things like porridge, cereals, wholemeal bread do not make me full at all. If I eat a bowl of porridge for breakfast at 7 I am famished by 9. If I have a scrambled egg at 7 then I'm full until lunchtime.0 -
I second the idea of hot soups, especially HM. They are filling, and you can have some whenever you want. Otherwise chamomile, and green tea.0

You've had some great advice already on this thread.
- I'd definitely agree with Thriftlady that protein helps you to feel full, especially for breakfast. Cheese is an excellent snack, whether you eat it on its own, with bread or with oatcakes - and if you're worried about eating too much fat, choose a good strong cheese and just eat less of it. Most of the reduced fat cheeses have very little flavour.
- Vegetables and salad can help to fill you up, but in cold weather it can be hard to feel like eating salad. Likewise drinking cold water...not attractive on a chilly day. However, hot soup is the answer to that - it bumps up your intake of vegetables and water, and warms you up at the same time.
- Take your time when eating. Sit at the table. Plan what you're going to eat, and choose to eat it slowly. This definitely helps your body to clock that it has been fed!
If you can find a book in your local library called, Say Goodbye to Overeating (by Gillian Riley), you may find that very interesting and helpful.

I find the same as thriftlady, protein keeps me fuller much longer than carbs. Having a boiled egg with couscous and salad at lunch is far more filing than a normal sandwich. Equally stews make me feel much fuller, but only if they have meat in.
