Does anyone use Panasonic microwave ovens?

Any Microwave is capable of catching fire.
It depends on how you use it.
haha ~ reminds me of when I was doing garlic bread for the 1st time. I clicked the 'stop' button and had a look and thought ill do it another 5 mins (Or whatever). Didnt realise when you click stop it reverts back to 'microwave' mode ~ cue burning garlic bread:idea:0 -
My mother (long gone now) gave a slice of Christmas Pudding 5 Min's in a microwave once.
You would not believe the amount of smoke.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Completely disagree with the Panasonic recommendations I'm afraid. Panasonic of previous years was good, at one time everything in my house was Panasonic. These days their microwaves are made in a different place and quality control has dipped, the components used are cheap, the finish is questionable (doors not fully sealing all the way round etc)
There are loads of review sites where Panasonic models get slated. Do a search for model reviews.
My existing microwave is a Panasonic and it will be the last one I buy from them.Herman - MP for all!0 -
We are on our second Panasonic microwave in 30 years. We only replaced the first one because we had a new kitchen and wanted to build the microwave in rather than having it on a worktop (that was six years ago - current one still fine)[0

Hi aliasojo, could you give an update on which brand is considered trustworthy at the moment?0

I have a Panasonic microwave/grill/convection oven. Its brilliant, wouldn't have anything else.
I bought a secondhand one, years ago, don't know how old it was when I bought it, the people were only selling it because they were moving into a small bungalow and it was a very large unit for their kitchen,
It lasted me for years with use being made of it several times a day. I still have it and it still works, although a bit stubbornly sometimes - the press pad is a bit unreliable at times.
I bought another one which I have had for several years now too.
Since having my first one, I have never used the oven of my gas cooker, I find that living on my own, the convection oven of the microwave unit is better. I don't have an electric kettle anymore either - having plugged both the microwave and the electric kettle into the same adapter and switched them both on, it blew the fuses, didn't bother to replace the one in the kettle. I just put whatever liquid I want in a mug and microwave it for a couple of minutes - prefer coffee made with all milk, or half and half - saves washing a pan.
I use mine such a lot, if it broke down tomorrow, I would go straight out and buy another. Definitely a Panasonic.

we bought one from macro about 10 years ago for about £150+vat. A couple of years ago the door catch mechanism (nylon runner inside the door) broke, so I araldited it back together..still going strong and used regularly. It has a 'chaos defrost' function which is pure genius!Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

I want to buy a new microwave combi (A combined microwave, grill and convection oven). On Amazon, when I searched, many Panasonic models appear, which is a surprise for me (I only thought of Pana as a Plasma TV brand).
Has anyone used Panasonic microwave? Is it considered a trusted brand in this area?
Thank you.
there is a youth hostel i have stayed at every year for the last 11 years. they have had the same panasonic microwave oven(in their self catering kitchen) for the whole of that time. it was still going strong the last time i stayed there. so they certainly last.0 -

Sharp seem to be well regarded, the reviews are generally good.
I've been microwave hunting for a couple of months and wish I could be an impulse buyer. I research every little detail to the nth degree which means any purchase can take me so long, they've probably brought out a newer model by the time I've decided on one. :rotfl:
Sharp microwaves, although fairly relaible, are definitely not as good looking as Panasoninc imo, they tend to be less streamline and more bulky. I'm trying to persuade myself that looks aren't everything.Herman - MP for all!0
