Getting a New Orange Phone?

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post :)

Basically I've been with Orange for about 5 years and never had any problems until recently. I upgraded my phone to the Motorola Dext about 6 weeks ago and have had so many problems, I'm on the 2nd battery and 2nd phone, but Orange wont let me change to a different phone.

I don't mind paying more for a different phone, my current contract is £25 p/month and I'd gladly pay £30 p/month for the iPhone, but I'm not sure how to go about it. It's an 18 month contract and I can't stand the thought of this piece of rubbish in my pocket breaking every 5 minutes for the nest 17 months!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Orange will do a DMR (different model replacement) only if the handsets been changed for the same fault 3 times. On the forth time they should offer you 3 other handsets which are similar.

The only other course is to complain to a team leader, if there have been a lot of other customers with the same problems they should do something.

Did you download the update which improves battery life and handset performance? What problems do you have with the handset?

As for a DMR, they won't always offer 3 alternatives, it'll be a similar spec handset to the one you have, and it won't be an iPhone

Updates are carrier specific so generic updates will fail, Motorola usually tell you what carriers support the update, Wrong updates can fry the phone.

As for the DMR its only offered once, My boyfriend went through 5 Nokia E71s and they offered him a Samsung Omnia i900 and then he's on his 7th replacement of that now.
  • I completed the Orange update when I was prompted and it was equally as poor with battery life.

I'm now on the second handset and fingers crossed its ok so far.

In terms of the phone though, it very suddenly drops signal and terminates a call and updates emails very very slowly. I know the signal issue can be put down to poor coverage but I've been with Orange for years and never had this issue, and every time I get a call I end up putting the phone down on people!
