I was wondering - I was wanting to knit for charity but my OH smokes and I have 2 cats - would I still be able to knit cat blankets for you? I could get OH to give me a smoke free zone but I can't avoid the cats - especially as they have a fascination for my knitting needles never mind the wool :D

would washing them before sending to her work?

my kitty blankets have been "rigorously quality tested" :rotfl:

In the Spring when the hedgehogs are awake and start getting into trouble I'm always very happy to receive woolly hats for them to curl up in.

wooo I can do this! (I just made my first two beanie hats today), does it just need to be adult beanie hat size or is there a suitable size that you'd prefer them to be made to?

Thanks for your input everyone. Been having internet conection problems and just catching up with things now.

pink_numbers - instead of spending money, have you tried your local freecycle/freegle group. Could be some decluttering going on ??

COOLTRIKERCHICK - sorry to hear that some charity donations land up with the ragmen. Fortunately the ones I have donated to are taken directly to their destination by aid workers.

Hey knitter! I'm really glad that you're doing this, I love to hear about people making a difference especially in such an old style way!

Your local domestic violence group could probably make great use of knitted items. You could contact them and see what kinds of things they can use, I bet they'd really appreciate knitted blankets, clothing or anything you could give them!

Thank you so much for your advice, I see that I've been making them too small! Mine are about 2' square at the moment. Maybe once my year of not buying anything new is over, I will buy some nice fleece materials and make large enough kitty blankets from them. I will let you know when I do make them and send some to you for taking your time out to help me :)

Oh, that would be great, thanks!

The adult sizes are best - if they're too big to make a nest in we can always stuff them with a bit of hay :)

    Thanks

Heheheh :) The cats wouldn't be any bother, they could try them out!
I don't smoke so would probably pick up on the smell of it so don't know what to say about that bit!

If you just give any charity knitting, whether for animals, babies or whatever, a quick wash before donating it I`m sure it will be fine. I don`t have cats but I do have two dogs. Don`t have too many problems.
