I havn't got either of the TVs, but can tell from the brands that they are not going to be brilliant quality. Technika (tesco brand) isn't going to be as brilliant as Samsung or Sony, for example.
Consider downsizing and choosing a different brand for your TV (Sony, Samsung, LG etc) or stump up the extra cash for a 40" from one of the big players.
I wouldn't buy either of them for main usage in the house, but for light use (e.g. as a secondary TV for bedroom) they should be alright(ish). The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

It should be noted though, that MATSUI is merely an own brand name for the Dixons Group. The goods themselves are manufactured by third parties: some of them well known. Panasonic and Grundig for example, (this is certainly true historically) yet the item could also be manfactured by Cheep China No Quality Control Company.
It's a chance you take.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -
I have Matsui ELCD40USB 40" 1080p LCD TV.
A huge 40 inch screen with full high resolution and picture quality is great and brilliant image..0 -

Personally I think these "own brand" makes might be worth a gamble as "bedroom" TVs for under £200.
We have a Technika TV/ DVD 22" in the bedroom cost £185, not the best quality in the world but does exactly what we wanted and looks nicer on the top than the old CRT, and has 1 year warranty with it.
Not sure I would risk the big ones though! Lot of cash to spend!0 -

Not even to push them into the canal?
If you buy a 40" TV that isn't very good it's really going to show up any problems with the picture quality.
As ses6jwg says for a smaller second TV it's not such a risk as being a smaller screen any imperfections will be less noticable.
For a 40" TV I'd stick to a well known brand. Obviously you could buy one of these and find it is excellent, some cheap TV's are good, but it is a risk.
EDIT: Have a look at Richer Sounds they have a 37" LG for £370 so that's £30 cheaper than the Tesco one and a 42" LG for £450.
I suspect they will be better. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Thanks for all your advice i have decided to take notice and not buy either! I will look at Sony Samsung or Lg. Many thanks again!!!!0
