I stupidly left cillit bang power spray on my stainless steel sink for longer than the recommended time
It has left marks that look like rusty corrosion
is there anything I can use to get this off? Or am I going to have to buy a new sink
If it is SS and not plated, get some rust eater from a car accesory shop and follow the instructions carefuly. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

sorry you are right I was thinking of Fertan. Rust eater comes in 2 kinds and you only see the one that makes a skin nowadays not the rinse of gel that takes the rust away with it. it's Fertan that takes away all the rust now.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. I thought the OP said a magnet didn't stick......so it is stainless steel?
Ours is SS.....the magnet does not stick, I just tried it.0 -
thanks everyone, I honestly and niavely (sp?) thought that stainless steel would never stain
:rotfl:
This is how it looks, hard to get a pic of the exact damage, Oh and I don't have contents insurance:doh:

I used some industrial type drain cleaner on my sink that was blocked.
After I used it I found out you couldnt use it with water still in the sink..
It left the same type of grey marks..
Bleach got rid of it in the end.
Leave it on neat over night for a few nights.
It will go eventually.
Mine has now dissappeared completely.Not Again0 -
I'd suggest you get some Astonish paste cleaner (Wilkos sell it), it should shift what looks like surface contamination. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
