Im sorry to post but i have worked out that if i dont post on here, that i become complacent and will spend money on food i really really dont need.
I am (sort of) ashamed to say that today not one of us has bothered to get dressed and we have just watched tv and played with dd on the floor with her xmas and birthday toys! So NSD. However, nowhere near me is open so that helps. I need credit for my phone before monday though.
Today me and dh have just had brunch, had some eggs, evening meal i havent decided yet as i have leftover duck and potato gratin thing from yesterday, and i also have some beautiful king prawns i might turn into something nice.
Otherwise a quiet day, dd going to grandmas overnight tommorow and it will take all my willpower not to flop on the sofa and order a chinese takeaway tommorow, but i need phone credit more! So back on here i will be if thats ok. In fact i will go and look in the freezer for something quick and easy tomorrow evening.
Happy New Year all!
Awww don't be ashamed... how many days a year do you both get to do that? DS and I didn't get in the shower til 5pm yesterday, and we only did that because we had to go out in the evening..... this morning it was midday before I got dressed, although I did get DS dressed after he had a bath this morning. NYD is all about doing very little, so enjoy it!

Hope I'm not too late to join this challenge. I have had a great day surfing MSE and together with the NSD Challenge this one looks like a great one for me! I am a total supermarket junky and go in for milk and come out £40 lighter!!! It's the offers that get me every time!!
I'd like to aim for £250 for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers who eat more than we adults do!). I'm drawing the cash out tomorrow and will enjoy spending real money, not invisible debt!
Feel excited with all of this budgetary control .... am I really sad???????** Official DFW Nerd Club Member 009**

Happy New Year to you all. Well day one for me and a NSD at that. Hopefully I will have lots more of these this month. I was just wondering - I know that there are meat offers of some sort in the supermarkets every day but do you think there could be more than usual at this time of the year? Or am just having spending withdrawal symtoms from not having done much grocery shopping the last week or so? Hi everyone - The Bees are back!
I'm afraid we sort of gave up for November and December but we want to start again this year from scratch.
This time, instead of having a monthly budget we're going to try an annual budget as we often bulk buy. So our target is our usual £350 month multiplied by 12 which is
£4200 for the year please.
I've done a menu plan for the week ahead and should get away with buying very little due to extras that we bought for Christmas that weren't eaten.
Also, last autumn I realised we were withdrawing loads of cash from the cashpoint every few days and spending it on nothing much. So I started withdrawing £50 a week and put it in an envelope for general spending. Seeing the actual cash and knowing that once that week's money is gone there's no more until the next week makes us focus on spending less. I'm going to continue doing that but maybe drop it down to £40 a week if possible. TBH I don't know where that money goes... school dinner money, newspaper, lottery, collections at work, the odd 4 pinter of milk, birthday card etc....
Anyway good luck everyone

It's day one of our shopping month today - but I'm trying to hold off shopping for as long as possible - we have lots of random bits & pieces here that need using up. I'm hoping to stick it out until Tuesday.0
