miecherox - congratulations on coming here and 'confessing' to your difficulty. It cant have been easy. You have taken the first step towards fighting your 'addiction'.

How about when you do go shopping only going with another responsible adult/friend, who knows your problem and can keep an eye on the stuff you put in your trolley? I would also suggest you take a list with you and dont get anything that isnt on the list.

I agree too with the idea of taking cash and setting a budget that once it has gone, it's gone.

    Hello everyone,
i would like to declare £253.71 for January, i only just made it :D
Could i be put down for £240.00 for February please Mrs M. I dont know if anyone buys the 4 pints of semi skimmed milk, but i normally buy it from Tescos for £1.53, its only £1.00 a bottle in farmfoods & pataks tikka masala sauce was 69p i think, that was a saving of about 80p on the sauce alone. Plus 2 packs of potatoes for £1.00. Cathedral city cheese was £1.94 in Tescos today as well, sorry i cant remember the before price but i normally buy it, & it was a lot cheaper, hope this helps. Sorry if these have already been mentioned. I shall try to keep up with Februarys thread more, not had much chance this month as felt too poorly. Past couple of days ive got back to cooking so freezers stocked up well for Feb:D
Nite, Nite everyone & best of luck for Febs challenge:wave:

    Morning guys :hello:

Miecherox - Well done, there will be lots of support for you here - welcome. I would say that meal planning is the way forward. Keep posting too, i find that when i`m struggling with the GC posting and reading what everyone else is up to keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Well i`d like to declare at £119.98p for January and my target for February is £130 please MrsM - Welcome back :hello: Thanks to Helen & Rosieben too!

I`m off to start a meal plan for the next week or two and check my freezer inventory later. I need to get organised :D

    Good luck everyone

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Miecherox Welcome to the thread it's a great place to start :D I'd second the idea of only taking cash with you and also try going only once a week with a list. I find that making a list, as well as a menu plan so I can't forget anything, has helped the most. I also buy enough milk & bread to last the week and freeze it. Now I only go into a supermarket once a week and no other times.

It's easy to get sucked into the popping in daily routine - I used to be terrible for it - but remember they are not nice, helpful people they are there to extract as much money as possible from us :rotfl: Play them at their own game and try to keep as much cash from going into their tills as poss!

Good luck & well done for coming so far xxx

    Hi all

    I'm declaring at £178.91 for January :j

Pretty pleased as under budget and over £100 less than we usually spend in a month! Just aswell as there was no more money left in the pot any way :o

Ave stockpiled M&S meat in the freezer and got another shop at M&S planned for this weekend to take advantage of the £10 off a £50 spend voucher i have. Also waiting on a T's delivery today which will be included in my Feb GC. Hoping that as i am well stocked up i wont have to nip into T's so often which i think was my biggest downfall.

My name is Fi and i am a T's impulse buyer  BUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTT if i dont go in i cant spend :D thats the plan anyway!

Off to decide on a budget for Feb.

  • I'm declaring £210.51 for January. I thought I was doing really well being as I haven't been big shopping since before Xmas - just goes to show how the little shops add up. Nevertheless, still under budget!!!!!
