Predictions for eBay in 2010?

yes you may be selling the products but ebay is pretty cut throat on price if you dont have a sufficent profit margin to work in then its not feasable, thankfully i use ebay as a stepping stone, they make first order on there i impress with speed of delivery and quality of product and i encourage them to come directly to me for repeat purchases. The problem i find is the low profit margin makes it very hard work when you have so many non genuine buyers who just want to mess you about making it a time consuming process for very little return.
Soolin i am fully aware fees have come down somewhat in recent times but things like compulsory P&P can make the FVF more expensive. I also find it annoying that you are forced to offer paypal then get charged yet again for that privelage by ebay, maybe they should scrap the paypal fee for all ebay purchases instead of screwing you twice. Non ebay purchases keep the paypal chargeEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
It's always great to hear from the Ebid-slammin' Ebay cheerleaders. I get all inspired every time to go list like crazy on Ebid.net. Ecrater and Bonanzle this year too...0

I'd put money on them enforcing free P&P across more if not all categories by the end of 2010.
By making people include P&P in their sale prices, it means they pay higher listing fee's as people are more likely to put things on at higher BIN or start prices to cover it.
It also means that they can charge a higher FVF as there's no "free" P&P component anymore and clamp down on the sellers who still get away with charging stupidy high postage fees but low sale prices.
Win win for eBay.
As for the supposedly lower fees.... they've already sneakily increased them indirectly with the "simplification" of the system - i.e. lower or free listing fees but higher FVF's across cheaper items that there are more sold of.
Put it this way, my eBay sales costs were about 10% higher this year than in 2008, and I sell a mixture of high and low value items.
Expect to see that extended as well.0 -
Maybe one good side of eBay getting worse will be that car boot sales will pick up and we'll sell more at them. I know they'll never be as good as they were 15 years ago, but hey, we can hope
Also whats a 'maximum listings’ value on private sellers (as eBay France has already done).'
Is this a max of say 50 listings at a time or a max of say £500 worth of stuff0 -

Since eBay made 99p auctions free for "private" sellers, many business sellers pretend to be private sellers and flood categories with 99p listings. In France there is a maximum number of listings a Private seller can have per month to help reduce the number of non-declared business sellers.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
