Activision will change it - My son damaged a COD disc and it was replaced for £15
You need to contact them and send the damaged disc to them first0 -

Exactly the same thing happened to one of my son's games.
My son, in his wisdom, decided to clean it with toothpaste. All this did was make it rather cloudy looking and smelling of fresh mint. Took it into GameStation to be cleaned. They have a strange machine in the corner, looks a bit like a breadmaker. They charge £1.99 to clean it. The assistant said it is not guaranteed to work, but the majority of cleaned discs do work. He cleaned it twice, presumably the first go was to get rid of the toothpaste. It workedWe could all learn a little something from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.0 -
I phoned Activision and the happy chappy said I could have a replacement sent for £12. I think that's a fair deal... though it negates the MoneySaving I made when I bought it from Sainsburys' on release date for £26. Oh well.
Oh and I deleted my game save data initially thinking that might be the problem so will have to start again...lol.
I'll definately be ringing Game and Blockbuster first tho. Thanks peeps:j0 -
Thats good news fairplay on Activision's part:)0

popped into Game... they gave it abit of a clean but no luck. Went into Blockbusters and the lady put it inot a machine that apparently 'takes layers off'. She gave it two tries and visually it made a big difference on the disc with the majority of the rings removed.
Both people at the desks looked at the isc an immediately remarked that they were shocked that a PS3 had 'laser burnt' the disc as this was more common with Xbox 360.
Anyway, got home and it's stil not working properly, though it now freezes at the Menu screen, where as before it wouldn't even get to that point. Looks like it will be a replacement via Activision then.0 -
Go to Game they repair discs, did mine saved me £39.00 for new game.0

He tried Game before Blockbuster!
It's good that Activision will replace it but £15 seems a bit steep to me.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
i have CD polishing kit (looks like a CD walkman) which polished the scratches out of an xbox disc from my sisters - took about 3 attempts but it finally managed to salvage the disc. They are only about £10 and come with a small bottle of cleaning fluid. Even if you cant get this disc salvaged - its still a good investment - Its polished up a few music CD's and DVD's which were having trouble playing.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0
