Extended warranty - can't fix it, where do I stand?

We've got a Whirlpool american-style fridge freezer that is five years old. We bought an extended warranty for it which covered parts-only for eight years (so there are three years left).
About three months ago it stopped working, and we had the control board replaced under warranty. Since then, to cut a very long story short, the repair firm has been back to us five times. They have replaced all sorts of bits (sensors, seals, ducting) but still can't stop the fridge from running at 1 degree C (which is cold enough to freeze some items).
The repair firm now say that they don't know what else to do to get the fridge working properly.
What can I do? The fridge is under warranty, so can I demand a new replacement? (seems unlikely), or should Whirlpool offer some money off a new fridge? (I'd rather not buy a Whirlpool again) or do i just have to swallow the loss and buy a new one and scrap the old one?

tricky to say without being able to read the warranty. Who did you buy it from and who is the warranty from? When you say parts only does that mean you have to pay labour?
My approach would be that as the fridge part as a whole isn't working I want the fridge replaced...0 -
Fridge-freezer originally bought from Ogermans, it came with a two-year warranty.
A couple of months before the Warranty ran out, Whirlpool sent me info on their extended parts-only warranty, which I bought.
As it is a side-by-side fridge/freezer, you can't just replace the fridge , as it is all combined.0 -
As has already been said, it depends on the contents of the warranty. Have you read it?0

Agree with the above posts, Read the terms of the warranty it should say what you are entitled to, some will replace and some will give cash towards a new one.0
