Plusnet - dreadful!

Don't be tempted to sign up with this crew! Over a month after signing up and I still haven't got proper broadband. I was promised a speed of 5 to 8 Mb/s and am getting about 100kb/s. On complaining, they bombard you with emails and text messages and try to blind you with technicalities. On the phone, they are aggressive and often rude. On complaining about the delay in my phone connection, I was told "if you don't like it, why don't you just f**** off"!
I have been told that I cannot cancel my contract with them without paying hefty cancellation charges.
I really feel that I have been well and truly 'conned' by a disreputable company.

Sorry to hear of your experiences.
I have had Plusnet broadband for almost a year without any problems, the switch from Sky was seamless and setup was a doddle. For £5.99 a month without it having to be part of any package it was the cheapest I could find. The 10GB usage allowance (not just download) is not great but as usage between midnight and 8am is free I can always download for iplayer etc then. (Only reason for switching from Sky was cost, had no problems with them either although they appear to have become stricter with their download limits).0 -

I really don't think you were promised 5 to 8 mbs, NO ISP will promise anything !
Are you really sure that your download speed problems are down to PlusNet, and not you, or BT ? The "tehcnicalities" are probably their way of trying to find out exactly where the problem lies.
Several years back I had BB problems with PlusNet, after a few days of exchanging e-mails, etc it seemed that the problem was with BT - it was !
They ran a brand new BB only line to my PC, cured the problem - no cost !0 -
PlusNet are one of the worst ISP in the UK in my opinion, I have been with six different ISPs, and I was certainly very glad to leave when I could. They are arrogant and selfish and I speak from first hand knowledge.
I now have 24 Hour a Day unlimited access for 18.99 a month and it's brilliant.0 -
I put my parents on the £5.99 plus net a year ago- No problems and get 6 Meg.
Using a decent netgear router and I did all the set up myself. Customer service has alway been fine. The one problem they did have was caused but a voltage surge on the BT line - a new quality adsl filter soon fixed that.
If you want a quality provider go for Nildram. At £18 a month its not cheap but you get what you pay for.
I am a heavy internet user and my connection (again via a netgear router) is top notch.0
