Sim free phones

Hello,

This will sound unusual but I am after a phone without a contract or sim - Sim free

No one wants to sell me one

I called all the major network players and they are just interested in pushing a contract on me.

Any ideas on where to go from here? It's the Blackberry 8520 (White) that I am after.

Thanks

Networks do not sell them (as far as I know).

Its usually best to get the pay and go phone on one particular network (ensuring the phone is not locked to that network). If you pop into cpw/phones4u, you can confirm whether the phone is unlocked or not before buying.

Buying the pay and go is usually cheaper than trying to get it sim free. Argos and likes will sell sim free phones but you will pay twice as much as if you would for pay and go for same model phone (in some cases).

I looked at pay and go versions but they won't sell the white one. Just black & violet on pay and go...

Play.com have SIM free handsets IIRC.

I can't check for you now though since the IT department here have decided to lock down even more of the Internet :(

EXPENSIVE though - I don't know how much a BB 8520 will be but for example a HTC Hero is £370 - I just signed a 24 month contract for one @ £480.

Play.com and amazon sell them. I brought one from my mum because I didn't know which network she was on!

After a bit of googling, think the white one comes on Orange - roughly £174 to £200 - not sim free I am afraid.

Kilty's suggestion of play.com seems to be what you need - that one is sim free.

Slightly cheaper here http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php?xProd=2373 Never heard of them before
