This could actually be a genuine mistake, this happened to us on one of our sales, cause hubby was away when we completed,I got the removal firm to pack EVERYTHING and move our stuff 400 miles while I waited in our new town. When the lorry was unloaded the following day, there was our dishwasher and cooker that had been accidentally packed into the lorry !!!,I phoned our buyers pretty quick and they saw the funny side, the removal firm had to return to the other town anyway so they packed them back up and returned them to our buyers.
Hope something like this could have happened in your case.Debt at highest £102k

have just spoken to my solicitor about this. it has NOTHING to do with the sellers solicitor, all he can do, which he has to, is pass on any any letters from your solicitor about the missing items, which you should get your solicitor to do at once, stating you will sue. there solicitor CANNOT hold money back now, UNLESS it was in the contract. it is possible to put in the contract that £500 or so will be retained until the house has been inspected to cover problems like this, but its rare. your ONLY hope now is with the sellers. hope this helps.0

I thought the whole idea of these lists was to act like a contract stating what would and wouldnt be left.

there is another very similar thread going at the moment, and it has given me pause for thought, so i will post the same thing here -
i guess we are all different and some folks want to use energy chasing what could be a lost cause for the sake of a "principle", and others realise there are some unpleasant people in this world who dump on you and occasionally get away with it. I know its neither fair, nor right, what has happened, but, please dont let this relatively small incident spoil your new start to a new life.
good luck0
