Hi I really need some help please. I have an existing network existing of a wireless router and a ADSL modem. The Desktop computer is connected via a Lan cable and our tivo connects via the wireless and also my laptop also connect via the wireless router. I have just bought a new Laptop on the weekend and it will not connect via the wireless it sees the connection but once I type in the password it says it cant now I have been into the routers homepage and I am typing in the correct password. Mhhhh so I connected the laptop via a Lan cable to the router okay it started to connect then said it couldn't as it needed to enable DHCP so it did and it does connect only via cable. On start up it tries in vain to connect via wireless but cant ?????

The desktop runs Vista Ultimate and my new Laptop is running Windows 7 and the old laptop was running XP Home
I just don't know what to do ?

Try:
Reboot the router
Logon to the router via your desktop and check what the access controls are - You may need to allow your new laptop access.
Check the firewalls0 -

Yep done that and have also placed the ip address in the protocol as well but still no go, I have even disabled the password but it still wont connect0 -
RUN - regedit
go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL\SERVICES\TCPIP\PARAMETERS\INTERFERANCE\{GUID}
DHCPCONNENABLEBCASTFLAGTOGGLE - set THE value to 1
and
DHCPCONNFORCEBROADCASTFLAG to 0
! be carefull save copy of registry before you modify
ok
if you dont find these flags create it
ok
Found this on another its worth trying it by the looks of it.0 -
Had a quick google Seems there are issues with windows 7 and wifi. Google your laptop make and model and see if there are any known fixes.0

No there are not any fixes its really a giving me a headache as my other laptop didn't have a problem and I know it can see the network it just will not let me join even with the correct password ?? and when I take the laptop outside I can pick up other networks so it must be something to do with the bios settings I think ?0

Well have just about torn the last remaining hairs out of my head with this.
So I went back into the routers home page and in the section where you can add and allow computer to connect. And the bloody physical address that I had typed in was not the correct one !!! I had put in the address of the router not the laptop so as soon as I entered and saved the correct address BINGO it works fine.
I just want to thank you very much for all your valuable help and suggestions
Regards
