Travelling in Norway

Hi folks,
A friend of mine is travelling to Norway for 6 months and I was wondering what their best option would be for a mobile over there? They have a phone that they purchased on an O2 contract - do they usually lock their phones to O2? Just to see if it would be possible for them to use their current phone with a new sim...
Also, I saw sites like https://www.0044.co.uk - is it best to get a sim like that or pick up a norwegian network sim? How would I go about that?
