wantabetterlife wrote: »Thanks ayesalush, i think i am really nervous as the last time i went to the optician my eyes were -5.25 in both eyes...but when the optician at optimax tested them she said my left was -5 and the right was -6. I dont understand how this can be as i cant see much difference in them at all and there is no way that my left eye has improved. I am afraid that they will overcorrect one eye and undercorrect the other if you know what i mean...think i will have a chat with them when i go down any maybe they will recheck them.
Did you get Wavefront Laser Surgery? If so this, from Op Ex website should , hopefully, put your mind at ease :
"Now, surgeons can use Wavefront surgery to identify, measure and correct individual's eyes 24 times more precisely than with conventional methods used for glasses and contact lenses"
They also recheck all the measurements and prescription prior to surgery.
Hope it all went well.

Ohh good luck with the surgery.
I will be sure to ask how it went. I need to get mine done but I think I would be too much of a wimp.

Lori - I've not read the book either but as I understand it, the book is about "cosmic ordering" - asking the universe to make things happen for you, so Gally is not reading a book about eyes. HTH.

OMG i can see :j:j....and without the need for glasses or contact lenses...am so happy :j
Thank you everyone for your goodluck wishes, the surgery itself was not sore at all, just a bit strange with all the machines wizzing about but i am so glad that i got it done.
The first hour after the surgery was sore..like i had chopped up a load of onions. When i came home i just took painkillers and went to bed.
Have had my check up this morning and all is well...my eyes do feel slightly gritty but this is to be expected for the first few days.
Ayesalush, yes i did get intralase wavefront surgery and they did recheck my eyes before i went in and decided that left eye was -5.25 and right eyes was -5.75. My eyes today are definately as good as with contact lenses but i would say my right eye is slightly better than my left....i am hoping that my left eye will improve over the next 48 hours to match the right one but the difference is only very slight. The verdict is money well spent

Oh wow thats brill.
Mine are -5.75 and -6.00 so its definitely tempting. Once done can they be tweaked again in the future?

Thanks for the update. I'm really pleased the surgery went well for you. It's amazing isn't it?!!!:j:beer::T
My eyes did feel a little gritty, although not at all sore, just very minor discomfort for a couple of days after.
I was a little disappointed with my right eye to begin with. Although I COULD see, it wasn't as good as the left eye, however at my check up 2 weeks ago, which was 2 months after surgery, it was as good as the left eye and my vision in both eyes was two lines better than 20/20 (at all previous checks right eye had been one line worse than 20/20, left eye one better). I knew in myself though that the vision in that eye had improved and had 'stabilised' but it was good to have it confirmed. Even after only 1 month the optician was telling me it was still early days in the process - so, fingers crossed, like me, you will see an improvement in your left eye as the weeks progress, although it could be take longer than 48 hours.
My main piece of advice would be to make sure you use the drops as advised by your opticians. Apparently the eyes heal better and quicker when they are well hydrated.

Possibly - my understanding is that it depends on the thickness of your corneas.
