I want to lose weight too, I'm afraid SW made me lose 2 stone and then I must have felt good about myself and got pregnant with DD but it was intentional so shouldn't complain. No more kids for me now though am just saddled with a lot of the weight still but have put loads on due to stress of moving house (i eat when stressed) in fact I eat for many reasons and find as mnay excuses not to exercise, housework being one of them. So Valli, Sw might work too !

Right have chatted too much again, off to get ironing board out and put kettle on.
Forgot to say well done Soappie, what's it about again (my memory is rubbish)

    Thankyou all

Sunnygirl - you can have as many signed copies as you wish - as long as you pay for them!

Thanks for the offers of help Careful with that Axe and Greenbee

It's going to be at least another month before it's anywhere near ready as a complete good read I fear but because it's made up of discrete bits I could send the odd finished bloke out on a sort of drip feed basis.

It's the actual design of the beast I'm now fretting about. But I suppose once I find a publisher, they'll be able to help with that. I want to include pictures and little snippets which could be put in little boxes to the side of the main blurb and it's the positioning of those that I'm not too sure about.

I'm also going to have to be v. careful not to be too cynical. One bloke I drafted up all the bits of research on this afternoon, his Dad made a fortune through lucrative government contracts during the Napoleonic wars. I am so tempted to add something along the lines of "the fact his wife was the daughter of an MP probably helped in the securing of those contracts." I guess if they're all now dead, I'll not be taken to court for libel so maybe I'll add it anyway!

It'll probably end up being as dull as dish water and is not likely to be on the best sellers list! But, I know some local historians will be interested in it.

It's about the blokes who, from the middle of the 1800s to almost the end of the 1800s formed and shaped the town in which I live. A sort of potted biography of them all - where they came from, what they got up to etc. There are some fascinating characters there... entrepreneurs, fly-by-nights, pompous so and sos and down right ridiculous so and sos.

NO Carlsbergran - NO! Grandmas should GIVE cuddles and they don't need to be like cushions...
My kids, and their cousins, constantly need reminding how old their grandma is because they forget she's *cof* over 70 because she doesn't look it...she has been presumed to be my sister more then once

In the interest of decluttering I can't crochet and I have crochet needles (pins?) of various sizes from fine (?) to coarse (?) (I 'inherited' knitting needles they're in with them. I can knit!) - Pen's post jogged the grey matter. (Well I could chain, once...)
    shout anyone?

ETA HOOKS they are crochet HOOKS!
