My son got a new xbox elite for christmas and I am concerned about setting up xbox live. I believe he gets a 1 month free gold membership when he joins silver membership.
We set up the wireless adapter and set up all the router details, xbox downloaded a new update and restarted. When we were going through the join live section it came to a page which asked for my credit card details. We stopped at this point as I am very reluctant to put in my credit card detail when we are not purchasing anything at this point.
Can anyone advise if this is a process we have to go though or is there another way around setting up xbox live silver.
Thanks

You dont have to enter your credit card details on the xbox, there should have been an option to join(its been ages since i joined so not entirely sure) as a gold subscriber with 1 free month of Gold(after 1 month it will revert to silver), i would'nt enter any card details at all. Is there any other options on screen when it asks for card details
let us know if you have any problems0 -
No other options, have to enter cc details to go forward. I am now thinking I must be doing something wrong.

How old is your son? Are you worried about content that may be too old for him?Dave. :wave:0 -
During the process it asks for my sons date of birth. He is 12. I have now just seen something on another website that says if a person is under 16 they need parental permission to join. This is obviously why it is asking me to verify. Has anyone else had to do this.0
