What to replace Canon printer with?

Have had a Canon MP600 for about 3 years, really excellent. Unfortunately family member fed the diary ribbon through it and now there is a black line when printing off Windows. So, would like to replace it with another Canon. Any suggestions please? We dont use it for printing photographs.

Not quite sure what you mean by having fed the ribbon through it. Are you sure it's not just dirty and passing several pages through it would clean it up?

EDIT: Do you mean the marker out of a diary? Having just read it again, this seems the most likely meaning! If so, have you tried to clean the ink head? If you go into printer properties, there should be an option to do so.

  • Have you considered giving it a good deep cleaning?

Ok, the marker ribbon was pulled out as it was jammed. It means that when printing there is a black smudge and line on the lhs.
Which option do I pick please
    -cleaning
    -deep cleaning
    -print head alignment
    -nozzle check
    -bottom plate cleaning
    -custom settings
    Thank yu
  • I'd go for deep cleaning, then bottom plate cleaning if necessary.

  • non- more like a feed roller has been marked. Describe the marks you see, Is there a pattern to the type and placement of the marks? I would clean around any rollers and look a little deeper.

Just did all the cleanings it would do and still the same, smudges about 6 characters in, vertically down the sheet. How do I clean rollers please?

This is actually part of what I meant in my first reply, but since the OP is not too technical, it's worth trying a software clean first.

The easiest way (it sometimes works) is to feed several blank sheets of paper through the printer. If the first sheet comes out unmarked, then this won't help.
