Taking prescription tablets to EU

  • Ask your doctor to sign and stamp a repeat prescipton slip, but dont ring up your doctors and ask, they will charge you this way, i find the best way is to quickly ask your doctor at the end of an appointment, just quickly mention it and my doc has always done it for me without charging.

Ive always just kept my medicine in labelled boxes with my sticker on with name and i got my doc to sign and stamp a up to date copy of repeat presciptions and just put all my meds and presciption in a clear bag in my hand luggage, and never had no problems. Been to New York, Benidorm, Corfu & Turkey and not stopped once.

Just an Addition to controlled drugs listings.
Its worth mentioning to everyone to check with the country consulate for listings of 'controlled' prescriptions. If in doubt, e-mail them directly if you have time.
I have medications that are vital, but in some countries considered banned!
One of the worst things that could happen would be for them to be removed on entry.
I take a few steps to protect my meds, including stating them with a specialist 'pre-exsisting medical conditions' insurer. I always check that I can be 'fed-exed' replacements as part of my cover.
I always take a copy or any repeat prescription, or an actual if Im travelling outside of the EU.
I always make sure my European Health Card is valid.
I take a consultant letter, on headed paper, no more than 3 months old with me, listing all the medications they prescribe.
I take photocopies of all the above, as a precaution.
I always take my medications in hand luggage (letters at the ready), incase my bags disappear.

Hope this has helped anyone needing to consider this.
