Taking prescription tablets to EU

Hi all, I'm going to Venice in a week and I've just read that I need a doctors letter to say that I need my medication. When I booked the flights I looked on Ryanair's site and it just said I need the prescription. I was going to just take a photocopy of the prescription, and take the pills in their original packaging with the labels on the boxes, will this be enough? I don't really want to have to pay £20 for a doctors letter, it's supposed to be a cheap budget break!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Unless it is a controlled drug, you should be fine with just the prescription. TBH I don't even take the prescription when I'm in the EU!Gone ... or have I?0

What would be a controlled drug, things like morphine? It's anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, anti-incontinence, the pill. Also co-codamol but that's over the counter so I might just buy some there, since I don't have a regular prescription to copy for that.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

My husband takes about 15 tablets a day.
He had a heart attack a few years ago & has a thyroid problem.
He's always taken his tablets with him & has never been stopped?
Never taken a prescription?0 -
That's great thanks, I'll photocopy a prescription and take the boxes and I should be ok.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

There is a list here, I know it is wiki but it looks pretty accurate. The list will not necessarily be the same in Italy, but I can't see it being a problem, if anything the restrictions in the UK tend to be more stringent than elsewhere in the EU.
I travel overseas five times a year and have never been questioned about my meds. I would only really worry if I was going to somewhere like the UAE, where codeine (even in co-codamol) is a controlled drug.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks, none of mine are on there, although I can't imagine an anti-incontinent is high on a junkie's list of hits!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I regularly travel with just hand luggage on ryanair and have never had an issue. I normally end up taking 7 or 8 different types of medication - i never bother with the boxes, only taking enough to see me through the length of holiday and a few more just in case.
I do take a copy of my prescription though, not only for use if airport security or the airline wish to see but also so if i have an problems whilst away foreign doctors/chemists etc can see what i'm on.0 -
i went to paris and brussels with tramadol and wasnt stopped

I was once forced to take out my creme out, which was a precription. The Spanish custom police did not want to listen to me. I had to throw it away.0
