New Years Resolutions off Positivity

I'm just about to start a new thread asking for help with my situation.
Bascially I've had a rotten time this past 4 years topped off by this Christmas - I was completely alone Xmas Eve and Xmas Day. I will be stuck in on my own on NYE too.
I need to make some friends but I'm in my late 40's and just don't know how to do it.
My confidence is very bad, I've started to make an effort with how I look so I feel a bit better about that, but I've got no family, no friends, I do a rubbish job part time and I'm totally fed up.
My resolution is to find some new friends but I dont know how so I'm going to start a thread and ask for suggestions! I dont even know if it's possible to find new friends at my age - everyone is in couples and not interested in being friends with a single person.
My other resolution is to find a better job, not so easy ATM but I will have a really big try.
Feeling very low today.
That sounds very posative and its a similiar situation to a lot off us on here this year so lets turn it all around its only ourselfs that can do it
finding new friends is one reason why iam going to college
i also do voluntary work & go swimming
isklar....its not a bad thing to be on your own at new year it will make you think about turning it all around , i will be on my own too iam in my late 40's but there are people worse off
good luck and all the best xResolve not to be poor, Whatever you have , Spend less.0 -
Ive also had a bad few months. I split up with my ex but im still hurting, its so hard. How can you stop loving someone even though theyve treated you badly??? Im not going through the moping phase but more like a kind of greiving for the things we did together. Im trying to be positive and some days are better than others. Im trying to think of some new year resolutions that i can stick to but because its so dark and cold outside anything like keep fit, walking and swimming just seem too much after a days work and im soo emotionally tired. Can anyone think of good things for new year resolutions. The only one i can think of is putting myself first and treating myself to pampering stuff. I could go out new years eve with friends but im feeling low at the moment. God my post does seem like im moping but im not, i suppose ive just got to shake off this and move on and like worriedsik says there are people worse off0

I just put my main resolutions in my signature, so I will add them here too as a reminder. Good luck to everyone with their resolutions in 2010!
1 - Lose the final stone (was 15 stone at my heaviest about two and a half years ago, aim is to get to 10 stone this year and maintain it.)
2 - I started jogging several months ago and this has really helped with weight loss, I would like to build on the amount of time I can jog for without having to stop or walk - aiming for 30 minutes non stop jogging at a time.
3 - Enter a 5 kilometre race.
4 - Declutter spare room as fed up of the amount of junk in there now!
5 - Save up for and go on a holiday.
6 - Redecorate living room.
7 - Work on self esteem - I don't value myself as much as I should and I've made brilliant progress so far with losing weight and exercising!
8 - Get a better job.0 -

I think its difficult for anyone to motivate themselves at this time off year but as soon as spring comes you will feel different , i like walking in the snow and on xmas day when things got to much for me i went for a long walk i felt so much better for doing so
you will pick up dont worry to much xResolve not to be poor, Whatever you have , Spend less.0 -
My resolutions for New Year:
1. Learn to drive
2. Volunteer in a Guerilla Gardening group
3. Decorate a room every 4-6 weeks (kitchen refit starts next week!)
4. Develop a second income stream so I only spend half my time writing. I had a dream the other night of being a textile dealer and was buying quilts in an auction house in France. I woke up really excited so I think I'm onto something
5. Join a Patchwork and Quilting club so I have encouragement to finish my projects and meet lots of new people
6. Have sex every day with hubby
7. Learn to set very strict boundaries with two family p*sstakers and refuse to have my guilt strings pulled
8. Have my book in rough draft by next Christmas
and if I achieve all of these
9. Start learning the fiddle"carpe that diem"0 -
My bits for 2010 are:
- Move house asap...busy road gets me down.
- Live in the here and now
- Spend less time on here

- Stop letting others get to me...rise above it!
- Try and chill out and not be so stressed all of the time.
- Set up my own business and succeed.
- Start trying to be a bit more self sufficient ie growing and making stuff.

Oh I love making new years aims, I have all mine documented on my blog and that way I hope to make sure I keep on the straight and narrow with them, much like a diary on here. Perhaps it might be a useful idea for someone?
