New Years Resolutions off Positivity

Well i just wondered if we all might make some as there was lots off posts in the past few months which were pretty sad , lots off breakups and people being hurt by there partners , myself included... i never posted my whole story but have hopefully been able to help others with my experiences just as i got help & strength from reading other peoples sad storys.

My new years resolution's are going to be as follows

1.....Iam going to do more for myself and build my self esteem and confidence , I start a college coarse on the 6th January its a bit scary as iam 47 and have not done any learning since leaving school at 16 iam now 47 & spent most off my life caring/giving to others sometimes misplaced giving !so my second resolution is
2.....Only give to the people who deserve it , people who appreciate me , i got sick off being taking for granted but then again i think that was my own fault i have nobody else to blame but myself as i have now discovered its ok to love give etc as long as its directed at the right people which brings me back to the self asteem thing again i must have been so low that i allowed the person to use me.
Iam typically a giver & i just forgot about myself i guess we have to love and appreciate ourselfs first dont we

Does anybody want to add to the thread & write down there resolutions for 2010

  • I agree with your post worriedsik - I am just through the worst 6months of my life - my mother passed away suddenly, I have split up from my partner of 17yrs who I found out has been cheating for months and I moved out two days before Xmas into a house that still needs lots of work on it!! But - I am determined to be positive - 2010 is all about getting both my mind and body healthy again - congrats on starting your course - it may be daunting at first but Im sure you will be fine x

If you need any more therapy you can come and decorate my house.
I'll go the pub so i don't get in your way.

My resolutions are (I have a few!)
    1) spend more of my free time with my little boy - I just always seem to be at uni or working, i;m going to try and cut down my hours to spend with him
    2) Gossip less. Yes pathetic i know considering some peoples situations but I honestly am a total gossip queen! I can't keep anything to myself. It's an addiction
    3) Take up swimming again - obvious reasons!!
    4) Pay attention more in lectures - i'm easily distracted!!
And last but not least number 5) is to give up smoking
New year isn't new year without me saying 'right thats it, no more smoking!!'
    It never happens
My get up and go seems to have got up and gone :o

I'm just about to start a new thread asking for help with my situation.
Bascially I've had a rotten time this past 4 years topped off by this Christmas - I was completely alone Xmas Eve and Xmas Day. I will be stuck in on my own on NYE too.
I need to make some friends but I'm in my late 40's and just don't know how to do it.
My confidence is very bad, I've started to make an effort with how I look so I feel a bit better about that, but I've got no family, no friends, I do a rubbish job part time and I'm totally fed up.
My resolution is to find some new friends but I dont know how so I'm going to start a thread and ask for suggestions! I dont even know if it's possible to find new friends at my age - everyone is in couples and not interested in being friends with a single person.
My other resolution is to find a better job, not so easy ATM but I will have a really big try.
    Feeling very low today.
  • I need to give more time... to me.
I will not spend more than NZ$50 on my wee girl (2 in Aug) on toys over the complete year!
I will get a new job

    that's it for now
 If you want the rainbow, you've gotta put up with the rain :hello:
  • i will move into a new house

i will give birth to our baby boy in june

i will get a part time job

i will not use any credit at all

i will pay off £6k off of my debt

i will cook more "proper" meals

I will bake more tasty goodies

i will be more supportive to my husband

i will work toward putting the spark back into our relationship

i will make new friends in the new area we've moved to

i will make all handmade/homemade gifts and decorations for next christmas

i will cook xmas dinner next year in my new house

i will retrieve all the outstanding money owed to me by February,

i will do good work for a charity

i will take up some form of exercise, since gonna be pregnant for 50% of 2010 this is likely to be yoga

i will be better at cleaning, tidying, and organisation

ok, thats enough to be getting on with i think xx
    :p Baby Buble due June 2010 :p

My New Years resolution is to put myself in the front of the queue for a change . This will mean getting rid of my husband and so saving myself ££££ -he only ever spends MY money . I will llook after my health and wellbeing - That means giving up smoking, making friends and socialising again . Rebuilding my confidence and self esteem which he has managed to smash in the 3 years I have known him. and lastly never to be a silly old fool again.
old enough for my bones to feel the cold .
