sorry if this is a silly question but my camera has a 1 gb card in it.
I didnt want to clear it so bought one in the sale at Asda and it is a 4 gb card

My card says 1gb SD

The new one says 4gb SDHC - are they the same, they look the same. and can i use it.
I am presuming that the HC maybe stands for high capacity.
I dont want to unwrap it in case i have to take it back
Any help appreciateds
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

This is really dependent on the camera model. SD is the older format and SDHC is the newer one. Some cameras can read SD but not SDHC.

If you go the camera manufacturers website it will tell you if it can read SDHC....or some of the websites which sell SD cards will be able tell you what cards your camera can use.

  • Since this model has been marketed since 2001, and the SDHC format wasn't completed until 2006, I would hazard a guess that the camera is not compatible with your new card.
Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!

It looks like the X50 will only work with a SD card. I would get a refund on your SDHC card.

In my experience you will make a significant saving by buying online over the price in the shops. Stick to a reputable retailer such as Picstop, Amazon or Play. I would be cautious buying them from ebay because of the risk of fakes - pick your sellers carefully. If it looks too good to be true.....

Try https://www.7dayshop.co.uk or https://www.mymemory.co.uk for SD cards. Both are good, reliable supplisers and the prices are normally good.
It's my problem, it's my problem

And it's my problem if I have no friends

The 'standard' SD card format went up to 2GB, so this is the biggest card to look for. Almost all 2GB cards will be standard SD format, and you should not need to pay more than around £5 for one, if not less.

Have a look at this, from eBuyer ...

Do stick to a 'brand' rather than an unknown make.
  • We have used 7 day shop many times and had no problems.

Incorrect. Standard SD goes up to 4GB, SDHC goes from 4Gb to 32GB, and SDXC goes from 32GB to a max of 2TB(dont think you can get them that big yet).

So 4Gb cards can either be standard SD or SDHC, and 32Gb can either be SDHC or SDXC.
