M&Co closed at 20 to 4

Rant rant
M&Co in Buckie -Opening hours today was supposed to be till 4 pm. Arrived at 20 to 4 and the door was locked and the staff ready to go home. The opening hours sign said it was open till 4. Went back to the car and at 16.00 exactly saw the staff leave the shop. Not often that I get cross but that did annoy me. Miles from the big stores this is the only shop except the Co-op that is in our town.

It is Xmas let the staff go home a bit early! I'm sure they deserve it :)

  • Report them to H/O. They won't do it again.

How much money will 20 minutes have cost the company.

It could be a head office decision - I worked in retail and quite often at this time of year we'd get a call from our area manager asking if we were busy and if not, we'd be allowed to close early and go home.

I think reporting them to head office because on a Sunday two days after xmas they have shut 20 minutes early is a bit petty and harsh! I imagine if the shop had been busy at 3:40 they would have stayed open, it must have been empty. Sometimes i think people complain too much about things, obviously its a bit annoying to turn up and the shop to be shut but really its not the end of the world!

I am more confused by why when the shop was shut at 3:40pm did the OP sit outside waiting for the staff to leave?

  • There could have been a perfectly good reason for the shop shutting early (power failure, spillage that needed cleaning up, someone taken ill etc). They obviously didn't get an early finish if they didn't actually leave the shop until 4pm. I'm with goater78 on this one!

I was not sitting outside waiting for staff to leave I just happened to get back to the car when my OH noticed the staff coming out of the shop and then the clock in the car went to 16.00. Buckie is a small town with only 1 street of shops and we were parked across from M&Co.

  • I certainly wouldnt report them! If it was a grocery store fair enough that could have been inconvenienced a fair deal, but a clothes shop closing a few mins early at this time of year isnt a huge deal. Would be very mean spirited to pop a complaint in!

Sorry but the company have probably paid for these 20 minutes and unless there was a genuine reason the should have had the shop open

Sod the spirit of the year, they had no spirit for the OP to be open!
