Hi guys (and girls)
Im about to sign up for broadband at home for the first time. I was about to sign up for tiscali but after reading this i dont think i will!!! can anyone help me out and reccommend a service provider to me? Phone line max connection is 4.5Mbps so 8Mbps is pretty useless to me. Would ideally like an unlimited download/upload limit, or perhaps 20Gb.
Was going to go for Evolution....but someone said they're contention ratio is not so great at peak hours and thats when id be using it.
Also, there would be up to 4 users connected to the service at once, does this need to be taken into account anywhere?
Thanks in advance for any help
Nick

There's a lot of talk about evo having capacity problems on other forums.
If you want a mini network of pc's connected then go for an all in one modem/router/firewall/AP, something like netgear or 3com will cost you about £40 to £50.
20Gb 1 or 2 mb package should cost you less than £15 per month, plusnet are popular big company, there's a long list at https://www.broadbandwatchdog.co.uk or https://www.adslguide.org.uk or I use https://www.discountadsl.co.uk at £10 a month.Tight fisted accountant since birth.0 -

Hi
You can get upto 8mbps, 30gb on peak, 300gb off peak per mth, 1mth contract, £19.99 from UKFSN, don't be put off by their website, they are a reseller of Entanet, and although I've only been connected to them for about 2mths now, I've found them pretty good.
Like most isp's they've just gone through a rough patch with the ADSLMAX, everybody upgrading, but now they've got a new central pipe on line, everybodys happy again.
The only thing I'm not to sure of, is your activation payment, I take it you've not been on broadband before, if not, most isps will charge you for activation, they have to pay this to BT.
4 users is not a problem, are you going to buy a router/modem?
But if you want to compare isps go to this site.

Hope this helps0
