HP are pretty good at resolving issues IME; especially if the machine is under warranty - that's often the bargaining tool that they (and other manufacturers) use against the customer. Lenovo also are pretty decent

Well its not a year old until sometime in April/May. I will get in touch with them in the new year and post the outcome here.

    Thanks

I have never tried it with a USB mouse, so only with touch pad up to this point.

As for reinstalling everything.... again I am not sure I would want to takle this. I guess if it came to that I would live with it and just swear alot.
If you have the recovery disks then it's dead easy. You literally insert the CD, reboot, hit enter a few times, select English, enter a few more times, wait 20 minutes, set the clock then you're done.

Persevere with this, and really hope you get it sorted; and yes, let us know.

Have a great new year too:beer: - and hopefully a working laptop ;)

First of all you have not hurt my feelings, I just feel its a shame someone with your post count could not have worded a reply a little better.

If in fact you were trying to tell me not to waste my time and money you could have put "No Vista is not the problem".
What you did was answer my question "Could Vista be causing these problems" with another question "Why would Vista cause these problems?" which would lead someone to think they were being stupid for thinking that it might.

As I said I am no expert and would not have asked if I knew the answer.

I have thanked many people on here for there help and have also been thanked myself, but I never answer a question in the hope of getting a thank you, sorry if you feel let down.

I'll reiterate, since you didn't seem to get it the first time..... my reply wasn't aimed at you in particular, but at the person who appeared to be encouraging you to go ahead and purchase Windows 7 without exploring any other avenues.

So, yes, you were being over sensitive with regard to the assumption that my question was towards you, who clearly knows little or nothing about the subject. Indeed, since you bought your machine from PC World you are in all probability, clearly beyond help.
So rather than stay here and mollycoddle you I'll leave you to it.

Since you've taken eight months to finally take some affirmative action, I shouldn't hold out much hope of you actually solving it, including taking it back to PC World.
Another free tip: Back up ALL of your stuff before taking it there. ;)

In all seriousness, I can see it was a waste of my time trying to help you.

Good luck, you'll probably need it.

I certainly was not encouraging thus; the OP asked (inferred) whether Windows 7 would be a better alternative OS, which I believe to be the case:cool: I never suggested that the upgrade would be the cure-all for his laptop's problems.

    Read and weep
Good luck, you'll probably need it.

^So helpful to the OP :rolleyes2

The OP didn't infer that all. They were obviously needing technical advice.

    They clearly were (did infer).
They were obviously needing technical advice.
    Which you refused to provide.

I think you are getting a little 'bogged down' in your own stupidity.
My main question is, is this more down to the machine or more due to VISTA??? I hear so many negative things about Vista I am wondering if I changed to Windows 7 it might help.

Maybe you missed post #6 in your post orgasmic excitement over Windows 7.

In fact it is you who has consistently omitted to give any technical advice, other than Windows 7 blah, blah, blah...., I would have taken it back...and, wait for it.....contact HP. :D

Is that what passes for technical advice now?

Please....stop now before you embarrass yourself further.

^^^^^ I think your stupidity and incompetence is pretty plain to see

^^Oh wow, such great (technical) advice!
    orgasmic excitement
^You best stick to your cheap thrills (no pun intended) :D
