Hi,

I have a Sony Ericsson W395 phone which my husband bought me for christmas, when I received it I immediately put my old sim into it, in order to keep my number and contacts, and put the new sim into my old phone!

However two texts were sent to the new sim to activate the vodafone live! and they were stored on the phone and not the sim! (I think).

I seem to be going around in circles to try to get the codes resent to my old sim in the new phone....

I wonder have I done this all wrong? Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

Was your old number on vodafone too?

Best to phone up vodafone from a landline or wait for their rep to reply or visit their eforum (being holidays its not getting me much response till Tuesday me thinks).

Are you on pay and go with old sim and new sim?
Did you agree to transfer numbers between the two sims, if not the old number will be assigned to the old sim card.
Your text messages are probably on the old phone - so stick the old sim back into old phone to reach your texts to do the activation.

Thanks for your help, both sims are Vodafone, however the old one is very old probably, but the number is a very easy to remember number so I want to keep it.

Both are pay as you talk!

I doubt my husband told the salesman I wanted to keep my old number!

I've also posted this on the Vodafone forum, so hoping someone will help!

    Thanks

Thanks, I've managed to find the Wap settings and put them in manually. However I still can't connect, I think I may have a trip to my nearest Vodafone shop and see if they can sort it for me! I think I may have to have my old number transferred to the new sim!

    Thanks again

    Hi Sarahjovi,

I'm sorry to hear that your SIM isn't behaving as it should and I would like to help you further with this.

As you say, your SIM is very old and I think it would be worth registering the new one that you have. This is a simple process and you can do it here -

    Register PAYG SIM Online.

There is a box to the right of the page that will give you the option to register. If you click this then you're away! Shouldn't take long and I imagine it will sort out the problems that you have been having.

If you need any more help feel free to let me know.

    Thanks,

Thanks everyone, I just phoned 191 and spoke to customer services (despite a long wait to talk to someone) and a very nice lady had sorted it all out for me, apparently the old sim had never been activated for mobile internet and she did it there and then! All sorted now!
