Is anyone using the mobile service protocol and able to reply to messages?

  • Not sure what you mean by mobile service protocol.
  • well the bb says that if i use a mobile service protocol, then I can push my hotmail emails straight to my BB as u cannot do this with hotmail accounts and the BB service, apparently the BB searches every 15-20 mins for emails.

Although it gives me the impression in one of the sentences that if I do this, i cannot reply to emails or view attachments or even forward emails!

  • Are you on BES or BIS. BES is for companies and they normally have their own IT policy on company Blackberries. BIS is Blackberry Internet Service this is for personal/individual users.

Go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications and look for the Blackberry Attachment Service. If it's there you will need to go to your BIS. I'm with O2 so the email address is www o2email.co.uk and log in. I can't remember if you have to register, I did mine about 2 years ago!! Put your email address and your email password and click next and it then sends and creates an icon on you BB. If you have already registered try resend service books.

To forward emails, select the email to forward, click on the BB icon left of the trackball, select forward and enter the address you want to send it to.

All my emails are forwarded to my Blackberry, these include two Yahoo addresses, my personal TalkTalk and my Hotmail addys. I can also forward emails to other addresses. You are limited to the size of attachments you can recieve, but I have actually recieved and downloaded Powerpoint presentations.

Sorry if it's a bit long winded, hope it helps. If you're still having problems either post again or pm me.
  • Yep I have done that already! I have been told my tmobile that my BB will only search for the emails from hotmail about every 15-20 minutes, I will not receive them instantly, I can still forward and open attachments and so on but if I want to receive emails instantly, then I will need to use the Mobile Service Protocol or stay signed in to MSN messenger to receive emails almost immediately.

I might as well keep it as that! Thanks mechanic
