Good luck Webitha - you go for it put the extra money in a tin from not buying ciggys or baccy....I've seen it suggested that you actually set fire to a five pound note! Apparently it is not illegal as long as you don't 'deface' it first :D but the idea is to see the money you would have spent on cigarettes literally going up in smoke :o I've also read others say they've been shocked at their reaction not to spend a fiver on stop-smoking stuff or a nice little meat joint etc, but will happily pay out for fags!
....Made Ham and Egg pie for tea and was so determined I wasn't going to the shop for bacon trawled the freezer and found four slices in the deep beyond so didn't have to go!!!....
The bit I've underlined is just the thing I was trying to explain in my post yesterday :D The other day I concocted a really tasty evening meal out of things I'd found in my cupboard & fridge & it was that good, the Offspring have requested it again :T A tin each of toms & a condensed tomato soup, some herbs, diced ham & peppers, & a little water all warmed through together casserole -style & served with boiled rice--probably £2:50 to feed four hungry adults. That's why I like this Challenge so much; it helps me think differently about the things I already have AND the things I buy.
After the nightmare of ruined NSD's yesterday I decied to make the most of it, I went to Mr T's which I wasn't going to do and did a big-ish shop, have stocked up of stuff, meal options for the week and so I shouldn't need to buy any food stuff till the end of the week.
    ....Duckie
*said with MrPunch accent* That's the way to do it!:rotfl:I've noticed that I am more aware of exactly where the money goes if I spend say £60 in one day, but wouldn't think twice about handing over £25+ on three separate days so it is helping me save money too :j

Yesterday turned out to be a spend day (but it was not really my money my DD gave me £500 totally out of the blue :j her friend had a win at bingo and gave her some money which she decided to give me some of), so i bought some razor blades (enough to last me a year) and a new toaster (the £400 i have left will be going to pay a chunk off my dreaded cc balance).
So that takes me up-to 2/15. I will need to get some milk today but don't count that as it comes of my GB.
I have approx 60 ciggies left and once they have gone up in smoke I WILL NOT BUY ANYMORE, my £28 a week that i usually spend will go into a sealed tin :Dand my ongoing savings will be added to my Sig weekly so i can see how much i have saved well thats the plan :D i have stopped about 6 times since i started smoking and after about 3 yrs of being smoke free i go back to them   . I will no longer be a slave to the ciggy :T.

  • Just popped on to say happy birthday :bdaycake: to raphael, hope you have a lovely day.

Big hugs to all stopping smoking/thinking about stopping smoking. :grouphug: I quit 18 months ago and fingers crossed I won't start up again (but never say never, this is about my 8th time of stopping ) Having more money in my purse and in my bank account was the biggest motivation for me, along with being able to climb the stairs without needing to wait for my breathing to get back to normal. :D I downloaded a Quit Keeper, which keeps you on track and shows you how much money you have saved..it worked for me anyway.

Today will be a spendy day, have to go shopping for bits after work, but hoping for another couple of NSDs later in the week to balance them out.
All the coffee in Columbia won't make me a morning person... :D:p

Today is looking like it'll be my 4th nsd so far which is pretty good going! I've noticed that I always start off well and then let it slip after the first week or so though so I'm going to try harder to stay on track this month.
  • Day 4 looks like it is going to be a NSD.

After having breakfast at home and bringing in a packed lunch I thought I'd be okay... and then my colleague wanted a catch up 'over lunch' and as she looked like she could do with a chat, I agreed to go with her to get some food. I didnt buy anything, but waited in the queue with her and we decided to go for a walk to have that catch up.

Why oh why we thought that "going for a walk" was a good idea I really don't know! But we skuttled back into the office after a short while as it is bloody freezing cold out there! Anyway, I'm impressed at my will power in the queue at lunchtime, for resisting coffee on the way in to work and I'm secretly grateful to the weather for helping to keep me financially on track!

Hope you're all doing well - and a shout out to elly2 for giving up smoking this year. I suspect the weather might be on your side with this too as I'm sure you won't want to spend too much time smoking out doors in this!

Keep warm people and thanks for keeping me motivated
Proud to be dealing with my debt
