My brother has no television, no phone and no computer....and he is perfectly happy.

He does have a fridge freezer, my old one which is now over 15 years old.

Edit - He does have a laptop but no internet...he uses it to play music and watch DVD's, he bought it second hand for £40.

It is pointless looking back, we can only live with things as they are now.

Of course you can`t. I sure wouldn`t wanna do without a phone, certainly not my puter. Plus all the other stuff we take for granted. The essence was, anyway for me, it seemed like calmer days. A point I was making was that things went up because of general inflation. Building societies were rightly so careful to who they lent to. Recent HPI, I kind of understand how it happened, however it was born out of the economy of the mad house.

Oh, the mention of being dysfunctional. Just heard a load convo in my local. 30 something woman is announcing to a group of people. " I f....... owe £2,000 to the water people. Couldn`t be a.... to pay it. They phoned me up to send someone around. They said that they would be very nice. If I agreed, they would wipe off the debt and give me a meter"

Oh, got an idea here. It`s income tax time at the end of next month. Perhaps I shouldn`t pay it. They might send a nice reson round and have me wipe it off.

Just remembered. A few months ago she was on about the holiday she had in the Canaries. So come mugs ( me included). Guess we will pick up the tab as ever.

  • You're fab but I'd be frightened to come home from work. It would go one of two ways. I'd walk in and you'd be lying on the sofa with seethru underwear on and you'd say take me big boy or on the other hand I'd walk in and you'd say Am I as attractive as that blonde you work with?

Pobby you are not so very old.

And there were always women like that. Women who would lie down below anyone convenient when it suited them.

So glad I decided to read through this board to cheer me up after my Eastenders style xmas :D

Anyway, Seasons Greetings to all, young, old, STRs, HPI cheerleading debt junkies, and fellow dysfunctional council estate dwellers (just realise how well that ties in with paragarph 1 :rotfl:) :A

Off for some more pheasant & booze now

You know, I do think you are right. We bought, I think in `75 and seem to recall that 3 years earlier they were cheaper but in those 3 years our money had gone up a fair old bit. For a 5 day week I guess it doubled. I also recall what you said re the new telly . It certainly would have been at least 2 months wages for many. 77 ish we got a colour one and I got me mate who worked for a national company to get it with his discount. I think it was £220.

I don`t recall people who flew off to the sun but couldn`t be bothered to pay the water bill. The thought scares me.

Tell me about it. I don`t do telly much. I do like movies, well some and other odd things. We have a vast amount of TV stations. Mrs. P, when not reading or working often says, there is nothing on telly tonight.
