Good idea about the tissue paper. I'm going to have another look on the internet for boxes, I think if I buy in bulk it's not too bad, but i'm only starting so didn't want to buy many. Plus i've bought so much cake decorating stuff and cake tins i've run out of space in my kitchen !

Rince, I too am interested in making cupcakes/cakes for sale. I've just enrolled on a City and Guilds Sugarcraft course Level 1, there are 3 levels in total. Im also going on a cupcake decorating afternoon with Mums Who Bake, find them on the net.

Would be great to hear how you get on.

This sounds like a great idea. My sister is very good at baking and cooking and she needs extra money nowadays. I think I'll tell her about this. Thanks guys. :)

Hi karenccs67 where are you doing your sugarcraft course? Have been trying to find a certificated course for ages! Have just looked at the mums who bake classes, they seem to be really reasonably priced, really want to try a cupcake class! Adamb no problems, I look forward to sharing tips!

Tasha, I am doing the sugarcraft course at Dunstable College, Bedfordshire. Im sure your local college would do it too, its in the evenings. Level 1 is 10wks for 3hrs a wk for £90. It seemed a bit on the expensive side but it is an recognised qualification and I will always have it. Levels 2 & 3 are 30wks for 3hrs a week but £370 :eek::eek:.

    Where do you live?

When are you doing your "mums who bake" course,? im doing it on 24 April.

Keep in touch and let me know how youre getting on. x

Hi all, well I started my Introduction to Modelling Sugarcraft course, the 1st session went to slow for me as i'd taught myself everything in that lesson, at home, but i'm sure i'll learn something over the 6 weeks.

I've been making cupcakes and bringing them into work and I have a few orders now. Also I made a cake for a lady who was so happy with it she took it to church, the pub and showed her neighbours and I now have another 3 orders.

I managed to get some cake boxes from boxes2udirect as they were the cheapest, the cakes looks ever so professional in a box.:)

How do you post photos on a thread ?

Oh and how do you stop square cakes burning on the corners ? I'd lined the tin but it still burnt. Round cakes are always ok

I got some free business cards done on vistaprint (but you have to pay for p&p) as they seem to be the cheapest and good quality.

I've bought several books from Amazon on cupcakes & cakes, they're quite cheap and free deliver so have a look. Loads of great ideas to copy and adapt. Also, put in cupcakes into google and click on the photos and theres thousands to look at.

Have a look at youtube to learn how to do piping etc. if you put in cupcakes or piping buttercream, then loads of videos (mainly american women) pop up and show you hoe to decorate cupcakes and cakes. I've learnt loads by doing this.:T
