None of the above if regularly serviced.

It needs a damned good thrashing as its basically coked up from pottering around. Drive down the road in a low gear with your foot hard down right on the limiter. You'll need to do it for several hundred yards and it can be a bit frightening for the uninitiated. There'll be the most unholy amount of muck that comes out the first few hundred yards or more and then it'll clear up.

Would I risk doing more damage if I tried that? Could I damage turbo?....am after a quick fix for now but dont want to invalidate warranty in case its something serious

If you trawl the honestjohn threads on your car you may wish to be rid of it before the warranty ends, i wouldn't touch a diesel version after reading that lot..... some of the problems i mentioned above are not being honoured by warranty as mazda are blaming the owner for the way they use the car, as CHR15 alluded to earlier.

Computershack is right in that diesels especially do need to be used throughout the rev range, and dpf equipped cars like yours need prolonged high speed running to enable the dpf to regenerate.

If the dpf becomes so blocked that forced regeneration isn't possible then it will need to be renewed, not much change out of a bag o sand for that if any, and i wouldn't trust mazda to cover that under warranty, citing the owner as possibly blameworthy for driving the car badly, thats come through from reading those threads.

    Do some research.

No and no. If its working correctly, the engine limiter will stop it overrevving. If the cambelt has been changed when it should have, it won't break. The turbo won't give a stuff either - it'll certainly do less damage than you do on a daily basis when you get to the end of a journey and turn the car off immediately instead of letting it idle 30 seconds or so so the oil can circulate through the turbo while it cools....

Had a look through honestjohns mazda 6 section though nothing seemed specific to my problem, would be pretty sure its the egr valve though am not getting any dashboard lights come up.

Tried the high rpm's low gear solution, and while it does seem to have helped am still leaving a puff of black smoke when pulling away in 1st and while accelerating up through the gears......also seem lively enough in 4th but drops to 45 when i'm in 5th gear.

Keep it going...you really need to blast it for a good few miles to clear all that !!!! out!
