Something I thought would be of interest to OSers.
The Imperial War Museum has a new exhibition about The Ministry of Food. There is a blog and an accompanying book out in February by Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall (Hugh's mum) which I have just ordered with my Christmas present Amazon vouchers:)

Cheers Thriftlady! I find the whole culture of how people adapted to the food shortages during the war fascinating - not just that people got on with it, but that it inspired so much creativity and a real communal spirit, both with production and cooking of food. I took my mum to hear Maguerite Patten speak at the Cabinet War Rooms a few years ago - that woman's a real food hero, and so inspiring. They served some of her recipes, including a parsnip croquette that was so delicious they've become a staple for me. Will definitely be visiting this exhibition!2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j0 -

Making plans to go!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Thanks for the info looks interesting.
